slm1994
Day I Breakfast - Bacon, eggs, sautéed spinach; black coffee Lunch - Bowl of chili with avocado, mixed nuts and an apple; cinnamon rooibos tea Supper - Cedar plank salmon with mango salsa, roasted broccoli, and tomato/cucumber salad with balsamic dressing. A handful of nuts. Thoughts In general, I eat an 80/20 primal diet. I'm looking to cut back on dairy in hopes of clearing my acne and reducing the amount of snacking I do (I tend to eat a fair amount of cottage cheese and sliced hard cheeses). I'm doing this Whole30 with my parents - as a student currently in exams, having many of my meals prepared for me is a giant blessing. I'm also aiming to make this an exercise in mindful eating - I work an unpredictable schedule and lately have found myself scarfing down food when it's a good time, regardless of if I'm hungry or not. My aim is to eliminate snacking by eating three balanced meals large enough to get me through to the next one. A bunch of self-experimentation, basically. slm1994
Day II Breakfast - Leftover salmon on wilted spinach, two eggs fried in coconut oil, strawberries and half a banana with almond butter; black coffee Lunch - Sweet potato and ham soup, and a small bowl of mixed nuts; cinnamon rooibos tea Snack - Apple and a test meatball Supper - Spaghetti squash and meatballs; mixed salad with avocado and balsamic vinaigrette; chamomile tea Thoughts I've been relatively hungry today. Started out with a big breakfast and was more than ready to eat lunch around noon. Felt snacky around 3:30 this afternoon and had an apple, along with a test meatball (for tonight's dinner). Overall, nothing too extreme - I had intended on having the apple as a part of my lunch, but didn't need it then. Other than feeling hungry (and that's honestly completely manageable - water does help!), I feel fine. Nervous for this evening's exam, but pretty great overall. slm1994
Day III Breakfast - Two eggs cooked in salsa with avocado and some melorange (a new-to-me melon) slices on the side Lunch - Bowl of chili with a fried egg on top, an apple and a small bowl of mixed nuts; coffeeSnack - Green smoothie (mango, pineapple, orange, ginger and spinach); cinnamon rooibos tea Supper - Moroccan lamb stew over butternut squash; kale salad with apples and pecans; mixed fruit for dessert Thoughts Went to bed still feeling rather hungry yesterday, but woke up feeling fantastic! My hunger cues *seem* to be regulating; I felt like snacking this afternoon, probably because I've spent the day sitting down and studying (boredom does make me get up and stare into the fridge). Today's been a bit fruit heavy, but definitely a satisfying and delicious one.
slm1994
Day IV Breakfast - Two eggs scrambled, topped with salsa and avocado; slice of bacon on the side, and a small amount of nut "porridge" with berries Lunch - Leftover moroccan lamb stew with butternut squash, cucumber on the side Snack - Green smoothie (spinach, orange, mango, pineapple, ginger) Supper - Ribsteak with sautéed mushrooms and green beans; half an apple with almond butter Thoughts Interesting day today! Woke up without any hunger; I had a few glasses of water and waited an hour before making breakfast. I tried a bit of the nut "porridge" my parents made for their breakfast - compliant, but feels slightly SWYPO, so it won't be a regular thing for me. This breakfast kept me full until two, when I had my leftovers for lunch while at work. I had a green smoothie while at work to tie me over (it was a 6 1/2 hour gap that left me feeling hungry enough that I needed something to tie me over). slm1994
Day V Breakfast - Scrambled eggs in coconut oil; sweet potato with almond butter Lunch - Salad with cucumbers, strawberries, toasted cashews, avocado, leftover steak and balsamic and olive oil Supper - Roasted chicken and Brussels sprouts with steamed carrots; coconut milk tea Thoughts Another good day of eats! No smoothie today; my overall fruit consumption was lower, but I had a fair amount of nuts.
slm1994
Day VI Breakfast - Two eggs scrambled with salsa and avocado, small bowl of nuts, half a grapefruit, coffee Lunch - Bacon and potato egg scramble, sauteed spinach, sliced strawberries, more nuts, baby carrots and almond butter; cinnamon rooibos tea Supper - Burger on lettuce topped with avocado, bacon and a fried egg, raw veggies, and sweet potato fries with homemade mayo Thoughts Today is probably the day I've felt the worst. I was vaguely hungry all day and wound up snacking throughout it (lunch was eaten in parts, spread out as I studied). Studying by the fridge definitely isn't the best thing at all. I also had far more nuts than I should (nuts are kind of a "food with no brakes" of mine). Tomorrow should be better; I have an exam first thing in the morning, then I work an afternoon shift, so that minimizes snacking opportunities. My aim for tomorrow is to eat less nuts - there are cashews in the salad I have planned for lunch, but aside from those I don't plan on including them in my meals. A minor nut reset isn't amiss! slm1994
Day VII Breakfast - Leftover sweet potato fries with garlic aioli Breakfast part II - Two eggs scrambled with salsa, carrots with almond butter Lunch - Steak salad with mango and cashews Snack - Smoothie (orange, pineapple, mango, ginger) Supper - Sole with olive and tomato salsa, sautéed snow peas, cucumber and tomato salad; avocado and an apple Thoughts Woke up extremely early due to stress (had an exam in the morning). Ate the sweet potato fries and studied a bit, then went back to bed for a nap. Woke up nauseous, so wrote my exam then had the scrambled eggs and carrots afterwards. My eating was quite drawn out throughout the day.
slm1994
Day VIII Breakfast - Strawberries in coconut milk; small bowl of mixed nuts Lunch - Mixed veggie salad with chicken, balsamic and olive oil; apple and some walnuts Snack - Small bowl of chopped honey dew melon and pineapple Supper - Pork burrito bowl with sautéed peppers, onions, pineapple and avocado; kale salad with berries and pecans Thoughts Today's been a good day overall. Got much more sleep than last night, so felt much less hungry (there is definitely a correlation between how much I sleep and how much I eat).
