I don't know about anyone else but I feel FANTASTIC today!!!! I did my longest, farthest run last night and woke up this morning 10 mins before my alarm totally ready to start the day! My head is super clear and focused, I feel awake and refreshed and full of energy!!!! I made it to work almost an hour before my day actually starts and I'm having an amazing breakfast. 2 eggs over leftover roasted garlic cauliflower mashed, 2 pieces of Paleo no sugar added (super slammin' btw) bacon and sauteed onions, mushies and peppers. I did, however, fail and forgot my extra toothbrush this morning so I pain for people suffering through my roasted garlic breath today but oh well cause it was damn delicious.

Husband is working late tonight so I am planning to go home and take the puppy to the dog park, come home and make Chicken Avocado Burgers (totally recommend btw got the recipe on Pinterest) and then try and push my run even a little further. I seriously LOVE feeling this great!!!!! I should've done this years ago! Enjoy your day friends!

Yeah RoseyCheeks! That is how I felt last night at about 7PM. It was fantastic. I went to a girls dinner where there is lots of wine and sweet foods around. I ate dinner before, then when I was there had my black cherry sparkling water and a few bites of raw veggies and a couple of strawberries. No one bothered me, and it felt great. I both feel fortunate to have understanding friends and to be able to enjoy chatting and laughing without wine.

This weekend we have a family gathering for a funeral :( but all I heard about for the menu was barbeque pulled pork, sandwiches, potato salad, all kinds of cocktails..... I warned my sister I will be the weird ball bringing my own meal!

Just hunted up that recipe on Pinterest and it looks delicious. Thank you for the suggestion, I desperately need some new stuff to get me through the next couple of weeks. Question - what veggies do you pair the burgers with, and do you top them with anything? I'm thinking they'd be good with some roasted beets or sweet potatoes, and maybe a little chimichurri sauce...

@tdelillo - I have to admit I am terrible with sauces. I just got the new Whole30 book and I am psyched to make some mayo and ketchup! Most likely I will do them on a plate with some mushrooms and either mashed or roasted sweet potato fries. I may even splurg for some white potatoes tonight. Also it is bomb.com with an over easy egg on top. Side veg...usually I go with fresh broccoli, green beans, zucchini or just sliced cucumber and tomato.

I am also trying my hand at a cauliflower crust pizza. No cheese of course but for sure a veggie/meat lover. I found a great recipe for that on Pinterest also. Just no cheese. You can follow my Whole30 board if you want. I think I am under my name Sarah Rose Peck.

Happy day 17 all (day 16 for me)! According to the timeline, the hardest part is over, the waters ahead are smoother, and we should be feeling like this guy.

SarahRoseyCheeks, glad to hear you are humming. Anyone else feeling the TB and if so, to what degree?

Y'all the pulled pork carnitas recipe is bomb. I make pork roast all the time, but great spices, I added ground cumin to it. Last night I put a couple palms full of the shredded pork over a bed of crunchy greens with avocado, tons of cilantro, salsa verde whole30 approved, jalapenos and lime juice. WOWZA!

May re-do this next week for Cinco de Mayo.

Rugarcia that video is pretty epic! Ha! I'm not feeling the tiger blood yet. But I'm impressed that I was able to go out and run errands for about four hours and not think about food at all. I got home at 2:30 and thought oh I guess maybe I should eat some lunch even though I still wasn't hungry.

Jomyke: Im with you on that less hungry thing. As long as I eat a meal based on the template- I can go a good 4 hours between meals! Yayyy! I was feeling more energetic earlier in the week...but I think Im overstressed and lacking in sleep which is preventing my tiger blood.

Which I guess brings me to my next question...how do all you guys handle stress? Im trying to incorporate healthier stress relieving techniques- but part of it is that Im overworked. Im finishing my masters degree and working 20hr/wk w a 24/7 on call phone every other month. I hate my job- looking for a new one. But the job is paying for school with tuition benefits. One more semester!!! (I can quit on 9/11/15 and still have my fall semester paid for- I checked. Tricky part is it takes about a month to train someone for this job :-/). This whole30 has seriously helped with my overall anxiety level...but Im stressed this week and fighting the urge to drink wine. Blah.( I already exercise quite a bit so I dont want to add more of that)

Jomyke: I'm feeling similar. Wouldn't call it tiger blood, but a pleasant and steady energy level and mental clarity to coast through the day. I do start to feel weak and occasionally lightheaded when I go over 4 hrs without eating. Don't crave anything sweet though, just my generous pile of veggies, protein and fat.

ColoradoGirl: My workouts are better when I incorporate sweet potatoes throughout the day but still feel my overall fitness is about 75%, but that's ok because it feels good to eat this way for now. Yikes, I think you've already got tiger blood if you can take all that on. You might try something different at the gym like spin or grit, or a change of pace (yoga or hike).

Rugarcia: Good to hear that sweet potatoes are helping you some- Im not noticing a decrease in my normal performance anymore like in Week1.

I dont know if it is Tiger Blood or Insanity (Can we say stress junkie?) :-p Seriously though, I know this is temporary. I need to find a new job and that will help so much! The 24/7 phone is stressful because I deal with families calling with deaths of their loved ones. It has become too much for me (Im pretty emotional). I love swimming but I havent been in a long time! Excellent idea :).

Im getting ready to shut off my phone and enjoy my magnesium Natural Calm in my dark room to help stimulate sleep. Nite nite everyone!

Good morning friends! Happy day 18!!!

So the Chicken Avocado Burgers last night were incredible! I made them with oven roasted potatoes and fresh broccoli (def my favey green veg). I wrapped it up in romaine leaves so I could pick it up and it made it so much more delicious to chow down with it in my hands.

My charming husband, however, said "they're all right. I'm not running back for seconds but they're ok". Ughhh. Seriously? Maybe if I smothered it in cheese and slapped it between two buns it would have been more acceptable. IDK if I'm just in "the angry phase" or what but the last two days I have been monumentally annoyed with his complaining about food!

Is anyone else's significant other not joining them in this? Are you the one who normally prepares meals in the house? How is it going for you? I honestly have not forced him to do this with me. He is on his own for breakfast and lunch but there is no way I am cooking two dinners! Sometimes if it's easy I will make a non-compliant side for him (stove top, grabbing him cheese and tortillas on taco night, etc.) I even bought a giant bag of Tyson chicken nuggets at BJs and told him hey, if you don't care for what I am making there's nuggets for you. But no, instead he'll eat what I am making and then b*tch about it. NOT COOL, MAN!

I'm sorry. I hate to rant but it's kinda irritating. Physically and mentally I feel fantastic. I don't really crave anything regularly. Occasionally the odd craving will pop up (PB&J, mac and cheese, SUSHI!) but it goes away and I don't feel like I am missing out on anything. I guess I am just in a bit of a ranting mood today.

Not gonna lie...I see a therapist once a week. Not that I am like completely effed up just really helps to get another person's perspective. I also meditate (my MIL is a yoga and meditation specialist for the last 40 years) and of course swears by it.

And...up until 18 days ago I was a smoker. Wouldn't tell anyone to pick that up to alleviate stress but it certainly seemed like it was doing something for me. I can't lie that that has been the #1 hardest thing to let go of. Occasionally I slip but I am working really hard at it. Cold turkey has been tough. The gum is a no no for this and all the patches and e-cigs and such still have nicotine in them. Not really compliant either. I tried doing the Chantix pill but yeah...that stuff really does mess with your head. No good at all. So cold turkey it is and has been.

My husband is not on board.  But he is a big meat eater so he's been pretty happy with all the meaty dishes...Vegetables? not so much.  I can barely get him to eat a salad.  So I end up having to make another side dish for him.  A while ago I was vegan for about a year and I made these awesome enchiladas.  I was going on and on about how good they were and his comment was "meh, they'd be good with chicken and cheese." (face palm)  He's just a sugar filled, processed food kind of guy for the most part and it can be frustrating.  But I try to cater to what he likes as much as possible to keep him happy.  He does love anything cooked on the grill so I'm very glad grilling season is back!  He's a great guy though so if food is my only complaint about him that's not so bad!  Would just love to see him make an effort to get more healthy.

Yup- my BF (of 10 years) is not doing this with me. I cook a weeks worth of protein on Sunday and stock the freezer w frozen veggies and get him a few non-compliant things like bread and cheese. But he is on his own for every meal bc I take all my food with me every day bc my work/school days are so long.

Your taste buds are used to no sugar/chemicals now and you might be able to taste food differently bc Ive had a similar experience of, " OMG this is delicious" and he is like, "Meh- it wld be better w cheese". My BF doesnt complain much...he just goes and buys his own stuff if he really wants it.

I think you are doing enough by having a few non-compliant foods for him. Is he complianing every dinner or just now and again? Maybe he is afraid to see you so "Tiger Blood" happy and changing? (And that makes people act weird and unsupportive sometimes?).

My husband isn't doing W30, but is generally a very healthy eater. I told him at the beginning that I was doing this, and needed him not to be skeptical (which he often is). When he started to tell me that he read about it, and didn't agree with something, I told him that unless he feared this would harm me in some way, to keep it to himself. (He is a personal trainer and fitness instructor, so he does have some expertise in this area...but he is not a nutritionist, and he was just nitpicking.) Really, this way of eating is just a more restrictive plan than what he follows instinctively.

I think his biggest complaint has been my reluctance to eat out. We usually go out to eat at least once a week, which we haven't done since I started. And this morning, he admitted to buying an ice cream that we both love -- but was surprised when I told him that I really have no problem with it being in the house. I am thrilled that the W30 seems to have re-set my cravings. While there are foods that I would love to indulge in, I haven't really struggled the way I anticipated. The clarity of the plan has helped - particularly in the past week, when I had two baby showers (one with amazing Jamaican food, the other which I baked desserts for) and one work happy hour (when I sat in front a pizza, wings, mozzarella sticks and cocktails.) None of these situations felt impossible, which I loved!

So funny you said that, because for one thing I was totally irritable last night, and then I totally went off on my husband for saying "Can we please eat normal food again?". The thing is, I always make him separate meals because he works late, and I have not forced any of my whole30 creations on him. I offered him some of the beef plantain dish I made because I thought he might like it, and he did. But then he was annoyed because the only chicken broth in the house was compliant and "tasteless". I explained very calmly (okay, I totally threw my hands in the air like a crazy person and shouted) that I bought that chicken broth for me and never intended to deprive him of his usual brand, full of sugar and chemicals, we were just out of it until I could get to the store. LOL.

You can do it!!!  Check out Allan Carr's book, The Easy Way to Quit Smoking.  I find it somewhat similar to the Whole30 in that it is a no nonsense, logical approach to quitting (cold turkey) and puts everything into perspective.  It truly is the "easy way".  I've never looked back and never wanted to!

Oh em gee! I think we must be married to the same person! I made this last week and it was the only thing I have made that he was like, "that was delicious! you can make that anytime"!

He did ask me how long I was going to do this because he missed me baking things for him. I did just make him banana bread and chocolate chip cookies and he was happy about that. He's a sugar junkie. I think the real issue is that he sees the positive changes in me both physically and mentally and he thinks he should also be doing this but doesn't really want to. He's not a bad guy just a tad unhealthy!

I'm sorry you guys are dealing with less-than-supportive significant others! My fiance isn't doing this with me, but before I started I told him that I would need his help staying on track and that the first week i could potentially be evil.  He eats his crap during the day but has eaten all the meals I've cooked for dinner. To him, steak and an endless supply of avocados/guacamole is just peachy and he loves that I've "joined the dark side" of black coffee drinkers :)
