Whole 30 Starts 4-13-15

I start my whole 30 challenge tomorrow and am so excited!! I am in a teacher credentialing program and start my last placement tomorrow! I noticed during my first placement (in 6th grade) that when it came time for me to complete TPA 2&3 I really became a stress eater and I am NOT doing that again. I feel puffy and bloated and have always had a wheat sensitivity but love sourdough bread and beer but I've always ignored it. But now I am at the point where I just feel horrible and am no longer ok with permitting it. I want to have more energy during my last student teaching placement (2nd grade! Yay!) And I want to look and feel healthy!!

I am starting this challenge on the same day as my new placement so that I stop the cycle of snacking in the teacher staff lounge before it starts again.

I plan on working out more by going to the gym 4-5 times per week early in the morning. I know that if I don't do it first thing I won't go at all.

I'm very excited to start this program but anticipate around day 3-4 really questioning why I decided to do this because I know I'll be craving all my junk food/ comfort foods. But I know that I need to make a change and now is the time!

I am going to start tomorrow too! I have always done better with low carb eating but have abandoned it in the past few years, thinking it didn't matter - 7 pounds added in the bast 7 months and yea it matters.  My goal is to be strong - I lift weights 4x/wk and now I want to lose these extra pounds once and for all.  I think I would be happy at 145 - 150, right now I'm 169.

Like you, I workout early - 5 AM otherwise I just don't get it done.

Today, I'm going to eat well, and leave the grains and starches alone. That part I do easily - it's the sugars that kill me!

I also work out around 5:30 am every morning. And like you, the sugars kill me! I don't miss ANYTHING else on Whole 30. I am supposed to be on day 1 today, but my daughter who is 12 is making us our Sunday night dinner tonight. It is short ribs in a crockpot. The ingredients call for 1/4 c flour, a T of ketchup and some non compliant beef broth. So I either eat it and start tomorrow instead of today, or refrain and not try her first dinner cooked for the family. So...I'll proabably be joining those of you that are starting on April 13th!!

Now to get my stupid sweet tooth under control!!!

Girl! I can relate in so many ways! My best advice to you is to have a plan and prepare. Make your food and bring it. Have something ready at night when you get home.

I always think may it through today and tomorrow the plan will be easier.

So far so good!  But the hard part for me is when I get home from work!  I have so much to do in the kitchen for my family...pack tomorrow's lunches, cook dinner, and clean up!  I am literally in the kitchen from about 5:30 to 7 or 7:30!

While I am still cleaning up they are all helping themselves to dessert which is usually ice cream.  I can't deprive them of this just because it is a weakness of mine!!  They can also take a bowl full and put it away, unlike me who would prefer to eat it out of the container!

I am determined though to make it through my second Whole 30 and maybe even LOSE WEIGHT this time!!!

Good luck to everyone starting today (including myself :) ) !!!

BJS-

I have 3 kids and spend a ton of time in the kitchen in the evenings as well.  I hear you about not depriving them just because ice cream is your trigger.  Same story at my house.  Dessert is pretty common after dinner.....again....I'll make myself some tea and remember that it's worth it.

I might go for the decaf coffee blended with coconut oil.  It's really yummy! :P

I don't have kids and between 5 and 7pm I'm solidly in the kitchen prepping, cooking, eating or cleaning up dinner and making lunches.  Yes, it cuts into my sitting, reading, ipadding, tv watching time....but it's all in what you determine is important enough to spend your allotted daily hours on.  ;)
