Originally thought about starting May 1 but decided I didn't want to spend two more weeks eating junk, so here I go!

My name is Donna. I'm in my 50s, with a couple of chronic conditions that so far hadn't kept me down too much, but thinking it's time for a makeover with my diet. Been considering paleo for a while, so this may be my door into that, and we will see how it goes!  :)

Hi Donna!

My name is Deb. This has been a long time coming and I have been looking to change my life for the better. I have suffered from Bulimia since I was 18 and have had issues with alcohol as well. Not good at all. I've addressed this by seeing a wonderful counselor who has changed my whole world, but I need to take more action.

My sister has scleroderma and I supposedly have Ehlers-Danlos. The first is too much collagen and latter being not enough. My mother has veinous insufficiency and has had wounds that will not heal and has had recurring pyoderma gangrenosum ( big word for icky sores) Clearly auto-immune issues are rampant in our family.

My sister has successfully changed her diet and is in remission. My mother and I have issues.

I start on the 18th too and I am excited to get healthy! I turn 50 in October. I plan to be the healthiest I have ever been by then. Maybe mom will get on board!!

Hi Deb! Ah so awesome to have someone traveling the journey on the same days as me. It sounds like you've been through a lot already to get where you are at now. Finding the fantastic counselor can be so instrumental when dealing with the tough issues of life (and day to day).

I had to look up Ehlers-Danlos. Sounds like it is a tremendously hard thing to live with. I also have autoimmune disease, in my case early Hashimoto's (still in the hyper Hashitoxicosis stage). I also have issues with blood pressure and degenerative bone disease, and could seriously lose some weight. But mostly I just want to feel better, so that's what has drawn me to Whole30. I'm starting with this, and after I might tackle a full AIP later this summer and see what happens.

I hear you on the desire to get to the "healthiest" you can be. Me too. Here's to your success and with your positive attitude, it sounds like you're on your way.

I look forward to sharing the next 30 days with you!  :)

I am also going to start tomorrow, I had a Whole30 going until yesterday and then had some food that was not allowed.  Will start back tomorrow on the up and up.

Dreamwalk and SeaTurtle - I would love to support you both on your journey, have you done a W30 before?  I did one fully a year or so ago, the changes are amazing.  The key for me has always been planning and not making excuses about food that I "need" to prepare for others...when really I want to have it.

Let's go!

Amy, no I have never done Whole30 before. I've been wanting to do AIP, but not brave enough to tackle that (yet)  ... but going to try this for now. And later on, perhaps do an AIP diet, or maybe not if I don't feel I need to go that far. One step at a time. That's encouraging that you have tackled it and succeeded, and had good results!

Amy, I absolutely would love to share with you and support you on this journey! I'm looking forward to what the next month brings!!  :)
