Western Medicine vs ISWF

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to rant for a second... I recently had some medical issues that resulted in a diagnosis of Lymphocytic Colitis, which is a very rare form of Colitis and even more rare for someone my age. I've likely had it for a long time but didn't realize it because I was eating clean. I followed the doctors' advice during the process, which was totally NOT Whole30 approved. Now I'm back to eating primarily Whole30 meals (sans any type of nuts or seeds) and I'm feeling great. I noticed a trend during this process.

Me: "I'm not feeling well."

Western Medicine: "Eat a bunch of high sugar, low nutrient foods that are just going to make you crave more of the same, let us pump you full of chemicals manufactured in a laboratory, and keep coming to see us and paying us money when your symptoms return."

Dallas & Melissa: "Change the food you put on your plate."

Isn't this an interesting concept? Now, I'm not saying that modern medicine doesn't have its place - it does. But I can personally attest that I feel better following the Whole30 than I EVER did following the doctors' advice. We all know that with a chronic condition the symptoms will return - but I'd rather treat them with food than hospitals and chemicals. When is the rest of the world going to catch on??

When?  NEVER.  Because doctors don't make money when you change the food on your plate and only go see them once a year or less.  Because manufactured food, corn, dairy, sugar & soy companies don't make money when you don't become addicted to their food.  Because pharmaceutical companies don't make money when you cure yourself with vegetables.

It is all completely about the money.  Maybe initially it was about ignorance and shifty "studies" and people in power making sweeping declarations about sketchy concepts not backed in reality.  But it is now, most definitely, 1000000% about the money that these smart business people started to make when they hopped on the bandwagon and used people's fear to control them.

Glad to hear that you are creating your own destiny by making informed, controlled decisions about how you are going to treat yourself!  :D

decker_bear, I applaud your decision to take control of your situation and do what you know is best for your condition. My mother-in-law has ulcerative colitis and receives infusions of some hugely expensive drug every six weeks to try to maintain her health and quality of life. Yet, wouldn't it make the most sense to treat a condition that starts in your digestive system by changing what is going into that system every few hours, every day of your life? Seems logical, but alas, she has more faith in chemicals. She does have my copy of ISWF right now, so here's hoping she "gets it" just as you have - and soon.
