livvie2012
I'm on Day 5 of my first Whole30, and I still have a variety of ingredients in my pantry that I'd like to use up. Are chestnuts or chestnut flour ok? I'm thinking of making a chestnut soup or reconstituting the flour into a puree.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted September 1, 2012 Moderators Share Posted September 1, 2012 You can eat chestnuts, but they are best consumed in moderation. Chestnuts are relatively high in starch and carbohydrates and they deliver a much higher dose of omega 6 fatty acids than omega 3s. Our bodies need omega 6s, but most people are already getting an overload of omega 6 and are coming up short on omega 3s, so adding something rich in omega 6s doesn't help. Being the cheapskate I am, I'd probably eat this batch and then not buy more.
