I had these before I switched meds for my thyroid and have had no problem till day 2 on the Whole 30. Any suggestions ?? Lorilou
Administrators ladyshanny Posted April 29, 2015 Administrators Share Posted April 29, 2015 How's your sodium intake, are you salting your food? Do you take a magnesium supplement?
jmcbn
I've been getting cramps in my toes more often than before & was told that Magnesium & potassium supplements might help if you're not getting enough of either in your diet. Or it could be a lack of salt? If your used to eating processed foods you'll be getting a lot less salt than normal whilst on a whole30 unless you salt your food...Hope the cramps ease for you soon. Loulabelle
Magnesium oil rubbed on the soles of my feet before I go to bed is the only thing that stops my toe & foot cramps.
Lorilou
I have Magnesium supplement from before, I'll give that a try. I try not to add salt to anything so that is probably it. Thanks for the info girls !! Lorilou

Thanks for the info girls !! Lorilou Don't fear the salt! The only reason that sodium has become a bad word is because of all the processed junk that so many eat. But we're not eating that with Whole30 so you really do need to salt your food to make sure you have enough sodium. Just go by taste and salt it until it's delicious. Lorilou
Last night was better, only up once I ate Sweet potatoes for a snack and at lunch yesterday and I think that helped. I guess its all about learning which foods your body needs. I am so grateful for this forum, nice to have the support and answers at my fingertips. Day 5 and staying strong !! Loulabelle
What is a good replacement for bananas for getting potassium? I had to stop eating them a week ago as I found out I was allergic to them and my cramps are getting worse in my foot.
Administrators ladyshanny Posted April 30, 2015 Administrators Share Posted April 30, 2015 From the internet (obv the beans & yogurt would be a no-go): High potassium foods from natural food sources like beans, dark leafy greens, potatoes, squash, yogurt, fish, avocados, mushrooms, and bananas, are considered safe and healthy. Loulabelle
I'm already eating on average an avocado a day & squash is out of season. I'll try more mushrooms and leafy greens. Thanks.
Munkers
Avocados are actually higher in potassium than bananas, if memory serves.
