The Real Deal This Time

Here I go!

I have went back and forth from paleo to SAD a number of times in the last fee years. Unfortunately, I just can't stick with it. Currently finishing up the 7 day Clean Eating Challenge from the Daily Hiit Blog with a few modifications (just too many carbs and grains for my liking and it really is unbalanced if you compare the carb/protein/fat ratios of each day.

I tried a W30 before and made it 2 weeks before failing miserably. I just don't have the support structure to keep with it which is why I joined the forum. My wife has a fanaticism with portion control and loves her grains and thinks paleo and similar lifestyles are nonsense. Even after seeing the 100lb lost on my father and how healthy he is today. He really is my inspiration to stick with it. I want to be THAT healthy.

Starting Monday, May 3rd, I will be giving it another go. It's the real deal this time.

As a side note, I'm curious as to hearing from any others who have kicked the nasty smoking habit while participating in the W30?

Best of luck to you for next week! Make the most out of your time in the kitchen, especially if your Whole30 support at home is lacking. Don't just bake one sweet potato for dinner--do a whole tray! Then you'll have leftovers for the coming days. Same for vegetables and meats. If you're roasting up a tray of chicken thighs, add a second tray filled with veggies and roast them at the same time as the meat. (And if your oven has 3 racks, go for broke and toss in two veggie trays.) If you have a crockpot, use it for roasts and other big pieces of meat. It can cook while you're busy/at work during the day and then you have a hot meal AND leftovers with minimal hands-on time.

The above is literally the only way I can keep myself fed for three meals a day. Case in point--I didn't prep for this week and I've either gone without breakfast or eaten an Epic bar on my way out of the door every morning this week. That's NOT how you want to handle your Whole30 because you'll just be hungry and cranky. (Or twitchy from pounding coffee on an empty stomach--like my day today!)

Thank you for the advice! I think a major reason I failed the first time was that I just didn't prep enough.

With the clean eating challenge that I am doing right now, I've been doing nonstop prep just to make sure I get all my meals in. Even if it means staying up late and waking up early like I did last night.

I am really rooting for myself to get through this time and stick with it, post-W30.
