angincanada
I have a really hard time with meal #1. Nausea and bathroom troubles no matter what I eat. The past two weeks (pre-whole 30) I've been eating a paleo apple cinnamon breakfast "cake". They call it a cake...I call it a bake because I eliminate the sweetener. It goes down and stays down without any nausea or digestive upset. I'd like to continue eating it for breakfast because it keeps me full until meal #2 and of course because it doesn't make me want to puke. So I'm wondering, is it SWYPO or ok? I don't consider it a cake....i just consider it a one pot breakfast. I make it as written but eliminate the honey/maple syrup and just chuck a couple chopped up dates in with the apples. Physibeth
This looks like it violates the no paleo baking rule to me personally. Eliminating the sweetener and the vanilla extract is necessary to make the ingredients technically compliant but it doesn't really follow what we would recommend as a balanced template meal being very heavy in fruit which is still going to spike your sugar. What do you think it is about this meal that keeps you from being nauseous?
Guest Andria
Even without the sweetener this falls within the realm of SWYPO. Honestly, why can't you make an egg bake sans the apples, cinnamon and coconut flour? Add some mild veggies, like spinach, tomato, sweet potato. Additionally, if you are having digestive issues, coconut flour may not be your friend. Have you experimented with other forms of protein in the morning? Fish, chicken, beef, lamb? jmcbn
I vote SWYPO - sorry - it doesn't matter whether you think it's a 'bake' or a 'cake' - it is what it is. And apart from that the ingredients themselves are going to cause a spike in blood sugar (swiftly followed by a crash) when eaten first thing in the morning... Dates are just as sweet as candy. I think you'd be better trying to find something else that will work for you - roasted sweet potatoes seem to go down well for most folk & they are *de-licious* when served with eggs over easy... angincanada
You mean if I rename it chocolate bake instead of chocokate cake it isn't compliant? Maybe I'll try stew or soup for breakfast.
