acathcar
Hi everyone! Completely new here. My boyfriend and I are going to start a whole30 together this summer as part of a big lifestyle revamp. His hectic international travel schedule is ending and we just want to get on track and feel better! That being said- he's chief exercise planner and I'm chief meal planner I was wondering if anyone had any good worksheets/ excel docs they use for weekly meal planning? We have hectic work lives (as I'm sure you all do) and anything to help with the weekly meal planning will be great to keep us on track and accountable. Any suggestions would be so helpful! So excited to start this process, thanks y'all! Alexa
MeadowLily
Holding your feet to the fire with weekly meal planning/worksheets/excel docs can be good for some and not so good for others. Some have made preparations for weeks, planning, shopping...only to fall away after a few days because they were overwhelmed with the aspects of too much planning and overthinking. Some of the most successful who've been here for years do not use weekly meal plans. There's a sweet spot with planning.
jmcbn
Personally I plan on a Friday what I'll batch cook for the following week by what's on offer/what's in season/what I like the look of at my Green grocers, and likewise for my butcher. Sure I have a shed load of recipes, but I make most of it up as I go along these days having been cooking this way for some time. One or two evenings when I have a bit more free time I'll cook from scratch - and that way I can throw a little spontaniety into the mix.Basically though I'll prepare three types of protein (generally one in the slow cooker, one on the stove top, & one in the oven) & three different veggie sides (plus a mayo/sauce or gravy) and mix and match these to create different meals.Avocados & eggs are *always* on my shopping list, and I always make sure to have enough supplies of tinned fish, olives & sauerkraut. Don't over-think it - just plan to have enough compliant foods in your cupboards/fridge to keep you going for a few days.

Administrators ladyshanny Posted May 4, 2015 Administrators Share Posted May 4, 2015 I'm a planner. Thursday I plan my menu, Thursday afternoon I grocery shop and Saturday or Sunday I do as much pre-cooking for the week as I can. I plan the menu based on how much "precooking" time I'll have that weekend. If I was single I would wing it and do repeats a lot of the time but my hubby needs more variety in his life so I try to have a different dinner every evening. Lunch is always leftovers from the night before and we have the same breakfast all week, whatever that happens to be (egg bake or skillet hash or whatever). I once lost my menu & precooking list after I'd been grocery shopping and the week was a disaster for me. I'm a planner to the core!
Gina S.
I created a word doc template/table for myself. I'm happy to share it with you. It's basic but super helpful to me. I can't figure out how to attach docs here (maybe not an option). Feel free to message me your e-mail address if you would like me to send it to you. I plan and grocery shop on Saturday and prep on Sunday. Makes for a busier weekend but TOTALLY WORTH IT.
