River30
Hey y'all! Day 32 here ... At a wedding today and debating how to handle it... I think I will probably have a few drinks, nothing excessive -- a glass or two of champagne -- but no cake or desserts, and will try to eat around whatever's on the plate to stay as compliant as possible. Any other ideas or tips? No idea what's on the menu.
Tulip
Hi Everyone! I've just got back from a strategic planning overnight hotel stay with colleagues and stayed mainly on track but did have a glass of wine. It is odd to feel that you can have something 'naughty' if you want. Just being a little more relaxed than normal did tempt me, however, so I need to stay vigilant. How's it going? Kage
Day 31 aka day 1 of my wholek Mothers day here. We had crayfish, prawns and scallops for dinner (with a home made compliant cocktail sauce) I enjoyed a glass of champagne and 2 glasses of white wine. Feeling warm and fuzzy. Results of my 30 days: no tummy aches Lessened anxiety symptoms An increase in energy (would like more though!!) Clothes are looser No cravings Feeling nourished and satisfied almost all of the time. I didn't weigh myself. I stayed strong. I did do my measurements. I lost 8cm from my waist and a bunch of cm every where else. Planning a slow roll reintro. Very slow given how I am feeling today. Tulip
Hi Kage I would echo most of your benefits. I am pleased with the weight I've lost but most of all (never thought I'd say it), I'm pleased with how I feel. I need to remind myself of that so I keep the core principles going. It's mad that the psychological barrier of 30 days can help keep you under control but it has for me. I now need a new thinking framework. Happy Mother's Day! We have it in March in the UK. Tulip
I've had a full day of voluntary clean eating and I definitely feel better for it. Apart from some butter in the garlic chicken recipe we had for tea, it was a day of whole30 principles. I still want to keep the faith with clean eating and today reminds me why. I had soup and salad for lunch and the salad was boring. That's where I need to place my efforts - making tasty lunches so I don't get bored and buy something sinful from the school canteen. How's everyone else getting on?
Kage
Day 33 today. I am yet to eat any thing "off plan" but I did have some wine on 31 and 32. Feeling tired today but I am fighting a head cold so I am blaming that and I have been a bit light on the starchy veg too (shhhh no it wasn't the wine, don't even say that! ) I have been compliant today and planning more of the same tomorrow. I have no real desire to eat any thing else. How is every one else going?
Tulip
I have been sort of on the right track but I keep having small slips (I know. - they're decisions, not slips) which are preventing me from being completely compliant. I still have a long way to go. I still want to eat sugary food, despite having a month off. I am contemplating having another go at 30 days - it seemed simpler. Feeling fed up, really. Carissa!
Ahh!! Tulip I know how you feel! - I did my 30 days, I wanted to keep going, but then I had family in town staying with me this weekend. We went out to eat a few times and I didn't stay compliant - I was very aware how it made me feel, I didn't like it at all.. felt odd to eat anything even though I tried not to eat super unhealthy I have a wedding this coming weekend then I will be gone weekend of June 6th for a family event - So I think June 7th I am going to start another Whole30, meanwhile still staying as compliant as possible until then! (but not 100% with traveling) I loved what the first Whole30 did for me.. I can't want to do it again!
Kage
Talking another whole30 already, you ladies are keen I am currently feeling too scared to eat any thing off plan in case it sets the ball rolling and I fall back into bad habits. I am really hoping it is 3rd time lucky for cementing these new habits and really changing my life.
Tulip
I might sound keen but I'm just very aware that I need to do it to help become more disciplined.
Carissa!
Kage, I agree with Tulip - I can already see a few old habits creeping in... I am pretty careful most days.. then some days not so much! I like the idea of this plan, since I was super careful 24/
Kage
Please don't take "keen" as an insult!!! "Keen" is awesome
Tulip
No insult inferred here! I'm just trying to work out if I am keen or if I don't think I can manage without the discipline of being in a whole30. I'm finding this tough but it is really making me reflect properly. Keep posting, guys!
River30
Hi ladies - I echo your thoughts completely. So since ending last week, so far my offroading has included -- a few glasses of wine/champagne, small piece of cake at Mother's Day, a bit of peanut butter, and maybe a small spoonful of yogurt. YES, I know, I am sucking at reintro and not doing it the right way. But I do know that regardless -- I felt like crap afterwards, and my allergies particularly flared up after the weekend. My dad said the cringe-inducing: "everything in moderation!" and "don't go along with these fads!" over the weekend. But I refuse to do "moderation" when I suffer with even a small amount of what I now know as allergens. When I said I wasn't having any horrible allergies anymore, his response, after a brief pause: "There's a lot more to allergy season left to come." What the what?! He's one of the nicest guys in the world, but he couldn't just be happy that I felt great, and had potentially eliminated something I'd suffered from my whole life? (Rhetorical question, no need to answer.) Anyways, I am basically 90% sticking to this thing - no plans of stopping - but I agree that the discipline of a W30 is "easier" than this reintro phase!! Tulip
Despite the good advice, you'll do best by listening to your body, I think. A 'no thrills, no spills' day for me today. Not wholly compliant, but no disasters. How's everyone doing?
Kage
I made an interesting discovery yesterday. I have not eaten any nuts during my whole30, mainly because they can be a food with no brakes for me. I made chicken coated in almond meal and spices for tea and then ate leftovers for breakfast and was rewarded with a very sore, achy tummy. The nuts were the only difference. Just makes me glad i didn't reintro any thing else that day
Barb1
hope to join your group?...... I did my first Whole 30 on the 1st of Jan. Did my re-intro bad and felt like total crap. I'm on day 23 of my second Whole30, this time, no scale..................!!!!!!! My BIG mistake round one!! So bad that it controled me not the other way around. Had much better time, this time because I knew what to expect, biggest surprise is that without the scale, I'm loosing much more, can tell with my clothes and before pics!! Also, I'm getting the daily emails which was a fantastic choice!! Just LOVE how I feel all the way around; sleep, no cravings, energy, happy, etc. I didn't get Tiger Blood until day 33? the first time but when it hit, WOW!!! I am going at least 66 days this time and goin on until I feel I'm at the right weight. A LOT TO LOOSE (5'5" start at 225 lbs)
Kage
Hi Barb, My first whole30 reintro consisted of try dairy, 2 days whole30, gluten grains 2 days of whole30. Go on a cruise EAT ALL THE THINGS. I Didn't entirely undo all the good I had done but I came close (was fun though). I think a lot of people (me!!) need to do the wrong thing to discover for themselves how wrong it is. I have also come to the conclusion the scale is evil. I think I may set mine on fire. I decided to try some popcorn last night (home made, air popped with salt and ghee). It was delicious. I have woken up in an awful grumpy mood. My kids are annoying me just by breathing (poor little darlings ) Coincidence? Maybe. I think it will require more testing. How is every one else going? Tulip
Morning! Kage - it's a sign that you are doing reintro properly if you are getting such clear messages - I'm thinking about the nuts. I, on the other hand, am handling it really badly! However, the stresses and temptations of the week are now over and I'm looking forward to a compliant weekend so I can get my head back in the zone. Hi Barb - welcome to the board. It's encouraging to read that are still reaping the benefits. I haven't experienced tiger blood (yet?) but maybe it's something to look forward to. Barb1
Tulip, I was affraid to reintro at first and thought I would stay compliant, that's why I got Tiger blood on day 33, lol! The longer I went the cravings took over and ICE CREAM, was where I LOST IT!!!! This is why I am doing my second!! I NEED the control!! and the (at least!) 66 days Melisa talks about to see if I am really there or if I need longer time. I'm looking at this as my changed eating style from now on! I can tell you that I have a terrible time with nuts as well, not an allergy persay but a "time to stop" problem! I really feel that 30 is not nearly enough time to get a handle on our eating troubles, That's why, after the new book came out, I started a couple days after to see it through, no matter how long it takes. Doing another W3 was hard in it self; the days seem long in the beginning and so hard but with this W3, the days flew, on day 24 now, can't wait for 30 to see the lbs bt that's NOT going to stop me! I plan to "look at the scale every 30 days and no time sooner. sigh, scale is still calling me...............
