Food tastes horrible now.

Hey!

I just completed my first whole30 a few days ago. I've decided to maintain the healthy choices Ive made over the 30 days and if I want something not on the list to treat myself once in a while. Well, last night was the first treat. We ordered pizza from a local restaurant and it was disgusting! Anyone else have that experience after their whole30 - food just doesn't taste the same as it used to?

P.S. I shouldn't complain right? I'm just afraid when I decide to eat a healthier non whole30 item like sushi that I won't like it! I could care less about the junk food, the pasta, the bread, the fast food restaurants. But, I always told myself if we were having a special occasion - I would eat whatever I felt like and continue with Whole30 / Paleo the rest of the time!

Yes this is pretty normal.

Store bought mayo is horrible tasting stuff.

I had a small bowl full of lemon sorbet last night in lieu of a slice of cheesecake (It was my SO birthday - and I can't handle dairy on any level) it was so utterly sweet, almost unbearlingly so - whereas previously if I would have had it - it would be sweet but tart.

coffee with a tiny half teaspoon of sugar was undrinkable.  I used to drink double cream, double sugar before.

The stone oven baked pizza from the highly rated Neapolitan restaurant near my house remains good enough to make it my lunch or supper occasionally. However, speaking as someone who was a cook at Pizza Hut during my last year of graduate school, ordinary pizza is not worth it.

I too always thought I would revert back to "conventional" for treats but blech!  I can either taste the chemicals and preservatives or the food is gummy and awful (eg, hamburger buns).
