planning travel meals

Recommended Posts

I finished my Whole 30 several weeks ago, but I want to stay grain free, sugar free and dairy free on a trip I am taking soon. I will take Epic bars so I have protein covered (is there another suggestion?). I can buy apples and cherry tomatoes and grapes when I get there. I will have no fridge, and I need food for three days! Ideas?

Canned tuna, salmon, sardines, or even maybe canned chicken would be obvious protein choices.

Can you take a cooler and replace the ice regularly? That would open up possibilities like mayo or guacamole for fat sources, and would let you keep some hard boiled eggs for more protein options, plus more vegetable options -- snow peas, snap peas, baby carrots, pre-cut broccoli, cucumbers.

Will you have access to a microwave (if you're in a hotel, sometimes there's one in the lobby, even if there's not one in your room)? Can you go to the store daily? If both those answers are yes, you can look for steam in the bag veggies in the frozen section, or you could even microwave fresh veggies. While microwaved potatoes and sweet potatoes aren't my favorite, they'd be a decent starchy veggie option. And steaming zucchini, broccoli, or other vegetables in a microwave gives you even more options.

My grocery store carries olives in individual serving size pouches, a few of those for fat sources might be good. While nuts and nut butters aren't ideal fat sources, they are convenient options for taking with you on the go.
