Am I doing this right!!!

Recommended Posts

Welcome Sandra!

Overall, things look good.

Some tweaks:

- increase your eggs at meal 1. When eggs are your sole protein, the serving size is the number of whole eggs you can hold in one hand without dropping them. For most folks, that's at least 3-4 eggs.

- On your other proteins, use the length, width and thickness of the palm of your hand to determine serving size.  You want 1-2 palm-sized amounts of protein per meal.

Looks like you have some tasty meals planned!

Make sure there are no off plan ingredients in your almond milk like carageenan. Also, I'm not seeing fat at all of your meals - remember that you need fat with every single meal.

Finally, are you just using this software program to meal plan, or is there a calorie count associated with it?  We ask you to refrain from calorie counting, weighing, food tracking for these 30 days.

Enjoy the good eats!

Ultrarunnergirl,

I made sure to bring my preservative list with me to the store so I am all covered with the almond milk.  As for fats, is there a better way for me to measure how much I use? I am not really understanding the 1-2 thumb size rule.

I am just using the program for meal planning, it builds your own grocery list based on what you enter, real time saver.

Lastly, is there a Whole30 forum app available?

Thank you for your assistance.

Sandra

For the thumb rule for oils and nut butters, look at your thumb.  That volume is one thumb-size.

All other fats are portioned per the specified amounts in the meal template.

As far as a forum app goes, some folks use tapatalk.

  • 3 weeks later...

This may be a dumb question....Im starting my whole 30 on June 1st, and I feel Im a little too excited but thats another story lol.

For fats, if I use cooking fat, I dont need to add extra fat elsewhere (avocado, nuts etc) right? And if I dont, but I want to add a little extra avocado is that ok? Or is that too much.

Thank you!
