Starting May 17

Having been diagnosed with fibromyalgia almost 7 years ago I am tired of feeling like crap all of the time.  I am so ready for a change.  My body might go into shock without any sugar and wine but I am ready to do this.  (I think lol)

I'm trying to talk myself into starting another Whole30 (maybe Whole45) this weekend. I'm a little hesitant because we're moving to our new house next weekend, and I'm worried about taking it on with all the packing and moving activities and figuring out how to work in my new kitchen. But, nothing says "welcome home" like a home-cooked meal! If I plan well enough ahead and have plenty of emergency meals up my sleeve I should be good. Plus, the extra energy that real food always gives me will be welcome during a busy and stressful time!

I too am starting tomorrow...with diabetic husband, fatso son, and migraine laden self...Time for some real changes in this house.  I haven't read the book yet...Have to go buy groceries tomorrow anyway and plan for next week.  I'm a teacher and it's end of the year...I hope it's not a bad time to start!  But after these 30 days, I have a cruise, two conventions and prepping for the new year to start...so there's really no better time than right NOW!!  Glad to have you ladies along for the journey.  I'll try not to whine too much!   That's for Dawnell...the only Wine she'll see for 30 days.  Ready??

I'm starting today too. No sense waiting until the beginning of the month. Never done this before but have been gluten free for awhile. I'm always good for a couple of weeks - but then have a tendency to cheat. It's almost like when you tell me I can't have something - I want it more. Will need all the support I can get

Hi I'm starting today too. First-timer here. I can already tell my food (carb) addictions are strong and I r-e-a-l-l-y miss my splash of skim milk in my coffee. I don't drink alcohol and rarely drink soft drinks so those are two things I don't have to "miss" but my coffee habit is decades strong. Good luck to everyone.

Hi everyone! I am starting today (Sunday 5/17) as well. I've done a few Whole 30's but it's been over a year since my last one, and after some major life changes and a pregnancy loss, I'm really ready to get back on track.

My past experiences have taught me that the first week can be tough. I tend to get hit by the carb flu pretty hard, and I did myself no favors by going out to a German-themed outdoor Biergarten yesterday and indulging in beer and delicious carb-laden food. I sure did feel like crap overnight and I woke up feeling extremely lethargic. So there's my extra motivation. Today is a new day!

It's almost easier, in a way, getting to the evening and not having to ask myself if I'll "allow" myself to have a glass of wine (or whatever unhealthy thing I want)... when the answer is an automatic "no," I won't dwell on it. It's liberating, really.

That's not to say that when the sugar dragon comes roaring I won't sulk. I'm sure I will. But I'll enjoy these positive feelings while they previal!

Ugh! My work schedule didn't allow me to get to the store today so I am going to have to start on Monday I think but we will still be in it together. We can do this ladies.

I am starting today, Monday the 18th as well! This is great, looks like there are a few people on here who are starting a whole 30 right now or within the last three days.

How's everybody doing today? I have a little bit of a headache but I'm not sure if it's from lack of sugar or allergies. I overcooked sweet potatoes yesterday so my dinner (and lunch for today) was a little bland. Hoping the lime chicken for tonight is better!

Hi There. I just wanted to drop in and say that I too started yesterday. I am looking forward to getting to know some of you as we go through our Whole30 journey together. My fiancé will be eating the meals that I have but he's adding cheese, sugar, etc. to his plate. I could really use a support team since my family is not doing this and everyone else I've talked to about Whole30 seems to think cheating is okay. Today, I woke up with a slight headache. I will admit that I cut aspartame out of my diet last week and was using a little sugar up until Saturday. Though Saturday I went to a dinner at a friends house and we had wine. Maybe the effects I am having are a little less because of this transitioning? Funny story though, I had cut the diet soda out on Wednesday last week and when I went to Subway on Friday I grabbed a diet soda. I realize half way back to work that I had done that. Goofy. I didn't drink it because I had a bottle of water at the office. But man old habits are hard to break. How is everyone else doing with Day 2?

Started May 17th :)

How exciting that so many people are starting at the same time! I made the recommended spaghetti squash and mead sauce and beef last night  - it took me two hours - ak! Looks like I'll have to work on my Bionic Chopping Skills!

One day down, only 29 to go...

Hi all,

So good to be on this adventure with all of you!  I'm also new to Whole30 and started yesterday (Sunday), although I just realized that the salsa I had yesterday and today had agave syrup in it (just 1 gram, but geez!!).  I was planning on doing ~40 or more days anyway, so I'll just get some new salsa (or make some) and keep moving along.

I've been gluten free for ~6 months due to lots of digestion issues (and blood work that said celiac - although that hasn't been confirmed). I absolutely must stay gluten free or my body has a fit (I will spare you the details).  I also have had migraines (for 35 years - forever) and two bad knees (one much worse than the other - blew out my ACL 2 years ago). Sooooo...feeling better is a HUGE motivation, and hope to lose weight to help my poor knees.

I'm almost an empty nester (haha - it's complicated), so pretty much will be cooking for myself and my husband, except my husband will add a grain, bread, etc to whatever I make.  I did tell everyone in my family that no one is allowed to touch my leftovers, as I have those in my meal plan for mixing with eggs for breakfast or having for lunch with a veggie.  The hardest thing for me so far is all the cooking/planning.  I'm used to quick & easy (or instant) meals - so this is a lot for me to handle.  I'm capable, just usually not too excited by all the cooking....but trying to get psyched up.  I need to figure out some easy meals that don't take so much planning/work - which I'm working on.  Got some frozen Angus beef patties (already cooked) from Costco - just heat it up and crumble on a big plate of greens with some balsamic vinegar, oil, onions, olives, etc.  Easy to have on hand and easy/quick to make.

Anyway - would love to hear how folks are doing - challenges, solutions, recipes, and encouragement/support for all!  :)

Gigi,

I just received a big Cuisinart for mothers day (yes, I asked for it...my husband and sons are not that good!). Perfect timing for a Whole30 start.  I've used it quite a bit already and finding it quite handy.  As I said in my earlier post, I do not enjoy spending hours cooking, but I think my husband is happy about this.  haha.  And realistically I need to find the meals that work best for me (as repeats) - that are not so time consuming, but still yummy.  You know how you have those good standbys that you end up making over and over?

Made the homemade mayo yesterday and it turned out great.  So excited we can have mayo.  Added some hot sauce and a bit of garlic powder for dipping my broccoli at lunch.

Cheers,

Tracy

I made a batch of spaghetti squash yesterday as well. Did you know you can make the spaghetti squash in the microwave? It cuts down a lot on the cooking time. Just cut vents in it like you would a potato and microwave for 10 minutes. Then cut it in half, remove the seeds, brush with some olive oil, and put it in for 10 more minutes.

Today was day 1 for me. I didn't have a very hard time sticking to it, but it was only day 1. It also helped that I planned out a few days of meals yesterday and got rid of all the off plan food in my fridge (it wasn't much, I was due to go grocery shopping anyway.) I was SO TIRED today. I think I might be getting sick or something, because I was really tired yesterday too. I took a nap for two hours after I got home from work today.

Day 3: Woke up without a headache but it's slowly coming on...I feel it. Yesterday went well. No cravings. I tried making the mayo in the Whole30 book. Is it suppose to be yellow? Tastes sorta like mayo. I mixed it in with some eggs for egg salad for lunch. I am adding it with spinach, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers and balsamic vinaigrette (homemade). Today I'm hitting the gym after work with my daughter. Keep up the great work everyone! We are on the road to success.

I went to Trader Joes - if you have one and they have 2 great salsas - regular and salsa verde that are delicious and compliant. Made scrambled eggs today with peppers and onions and then put some salsa verde on it. Delicious. Also, roasted a chicken and deboned it on Sunday and kept it in the fridge. Easy to grab and go with a vegetable and some olives. Plus made a 1/2 pound of bacon to keep in the fridge to go with breakfast. Next week will make the pork sausage. Kind loving this in the morning - but I love breakfast. Need up making some ranch dressing. Need some dip.. Think these will be my go to along with cutting up some veggies so they are in the fridge and I can just grab them
