Need to get weight and health under control as I creep towards 40 5/18/15 Meal one: 1 smallish avocado, 1 banana, 1 hardboiled egg with black coffee and 24oz of water (need to work on prepping breakfast I think night before so I incorporate veggies too!) , 24oz water, black coffee Meal two: salad made of spinach mix, tomatoes, red onion, chicken breast, handful black olives, homemade dressing using tahini and spices, 24 oz water, LaCroix Meal three: 2 hamburger patties (cooked in pan with ghee), spinach mix, pickled asparagus spears, green olives, butternut squash with cinnamon, water, LaCroix for bedtime treat
Moderators Tom Denham Posted May 18, 2015 Moderators Share Posted May 18, 2015 The composition of meal one has problems. You needed a lot more protein - like 3-4 eggs and not just 1. A whole egg includes good fat, so you don't have to add more. However, I sometimes eat an avocado with eggs simply because I like the taste. We generally recommend avoiding fruit at breakfast, especially a high sugar fruit like banana, because it has a bad influence on insulin - especially when you are light on protein. edgymama
Thank you so much Tom!!! My book arrives tomorrow so I started based solely off the printables, excited to get the book and learn more. And oh my gosh I don't know if I could eat that many eggs in one sitting! I did wonder about the banana too. Thanks again.

edgymama
Day 2: You will see lots of repetition in my meals since I like to do batch cooking and use up what I have (also helps save on grocery budget!) Meal one: 2 hardboiled eggs, 3 sweet mini peppers, 1/2 avocado, black coffee, 24oz water (for between meals) Meal Two: salad made with spinach mix, chicken breast, tomatoes, olives, onion, dressing made from tahini, 24oz water, LaCroix for between meal two and three, baby carrots, 2 large clementines (had to stop myself from drooling over co-workers authentic homemade mexican feast she brought in!) Meal Three: 2 burger patties (have an amazing compliant mustard), butternut squash with cinnamon, pickled asparagus, green olives, half avocado, (feeling HUNGRY this afternoon and craving cake and/or toast so made decision to add the half avocado with my dinner which I hadn't originally planned, read to offset carb munchies with more protein and fat!) Thank goodness my food is all prepped in the fridge so I can just pop in the micro (I have always had a super hungry time between lunch and dinner in the past so hoping to learn to combat this; must add more protein and fat to breakfast and lunch perhaps?) Tummy is feeling bubbly and gassy today.....need to start bringing an additional bottle of water to work to help flush out that extra fiber. REALLY wanted my peppermint altoids while sitting at daughter's orchestra concert in the evening. I made it through without! Sat down with my Lacroix once I got my kids to bed. Roll on Day 3! edgymama
Day 3: Book arrived last night, hooray! Soaking up as much info off these forums and facebook groups too, love all the support available. Was a bit heady feeling last night but nothing horrid. Meal One: 3 eggs seasoned with black pepper, pink Himalayan salt, organic garlic, big handful of baby spinach/spring mix tossed in, 2 slices of prosciutto also tossed in (much better cooked and hot in my opinion! Couldn't get down with the texture as is). 2 clementines (super duper sugary sweet, won't make fruit with meals a habit but it was a nice treat) Black coffee. 24 oz water Once I got to work realized I should have had more fat with the meal other than the olive oil I cooked the eggs in. Learning learninggggg Meal Two: Big salad again with chicken, a few grape tomatoes and olives for my fat(a bit skimpy today, keep adding things to my grocery list for shopping this weekend! (I will change it up next work week I promise )and my homemade dressing, carrots, 2 kiwis, 24oz water : Co-worker came to the rescue and gave me half of a medium tomato to add into my salad as well as 1/2 container of classic wholly guacamole. Snack: Lacroix AMAZING discovery....wasn't starving as soon as I walked in the door to my house today! This is a RARE thing and one thing that I hope continues! Meal Three: Baked chicken breast, 1/2 steamer bag of california medley veg, homemade buffalo sauce out of ghee and franks red hot (OMG AMAZINGGGGGG), handful of green garlic stuffed olives. Meal 1: 6 sweet mini peppers, 3 hardboiled eggs, Heaping handful black olives, black coffee Snack: had to happen today... 24 oz lime infused water and 2 handfuls of plantain chips (think this was mostly stress related but also because I had to go home to watch kids while hubby went to the doctor which meant I missed out on more coffee and water I normally have at this time) Meal 2: Greens with chicken breast and leftover buffalo ghee sauce, 1 small avocado, 24 oz water Meal 3: 1 lean burger patty, California Medley veggies (with a bit of ghee on top), pickled asparagus spears, handful black olives, 3/4 of a banana, 24oz water Snack: another handful plantain chips (don't think I will be purchasing these again while doing this as I see them being a SWYPO food for me! Although it was better than diving into the cannister of pringles my daughter was chowing on next to me!, LaCroix Totally went into the Kill all Things mode today and really had to do some deep breathing dealing with my toddler's antics this evening! WHEW made it through!

edgymama
Day 8- Memorial DayLast night my little guy (almost 3) had to go to ER with daddy as a case of croup came on hard and fast. We have a history of croup with our two littles and it is so scary. He seems ok this morning but a bit grumpy and I am sure tonight he will have attack again as night 2 is usually worse :/ hoping the steroids keep it at bay not only for his sake but because Mama and Daddy need sleep!Meal 1: 3 eggs, heaping handful power greens, 1 slice prosciutto, a few cherry tomatoes cooked in ghee with handful blueberries and about 8 black olives, 2 cups black coffeeMeal 2: salad greens and tomatoes with a burger patty and balsamic, half avocadoMeal 3: a bit of chicken then some almonds as chicken tasted weird, green beans, half avocado, some red grapes Snack: Ended up having a cup of blueberries and 4 dates as my husband sat eating a chocolate bar from England....sigh...I made it though even though I would like to cut out ALL night snacking! edgymama
Day 10 I feel I am getting better rest! Despite kids waking me past few nights they slept last night (and usually this leaves me even more tired for lack of catching up!) and I got out of bed at just before 6am and was ready to start the day! Prepared a pork roast so hopefully I can devour some Kahlua Pig tonight that everyone seems to rave about Meal 1: 2 eggs (just couldn't do 3 today) and 1 maybe closer to 2 slices of proscuitto cooked together in ghee, 1/2 avocado, 4 mini peppers, maybe 5 red grapes Well look at that....first day in awhile that I haven't had 3 eggs and guess whose stomach is growling an hour before my normal lunch time?! Definitely a sign I need that full protein serving me thinks Meal 2: chicken breast, sweet potato cubes, 1/2 avocado, carrots (super starchy I know! I need to pop to store this evening), dipped the chicken in mustard and it still was just yuck to me, think it was just not a good piece but maybe I am sick of it? Will get more creative next week SNACK: totally didn't need it and it was purely because I couldn't have my kids waste an apple pie lara bar (it was actually aldis brand which is also compliant woot! great for a special treat, I will not eat a lot of these regularly because it would def be a SWYPO) Meal 3: Taco Bowl again! Forgot to open olives to put on it thought whattttt?! Big bowl of spinach, homemade taco meat, tomatoes, half avocado and 100 cal guac cup
