Just want to make sure I am reading my labels correctly. Today at Trader Joe's I saw Apple Carrot fruit sauce Crushers and want to pick up an emergency backup, but is it compliant?? Thanks in advance!



Carrot Juice Concentrate

Pumpkin Juice Concentrate

Acerola Juice Concentrate

Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)

Technically, I suppose this is within the rules. It looks like it's an applesauce type thing -- if so, it would be treated like any fruit, best limited to 1-2 servings per day, always with a meal not by itself. I think the juice concentrates may make it really sweet, you can find applesauce with nothing but apples and ascorbic acid if you look for them. Or you could just have an apple.


Better emergency backup foods would be to keep cans of tuna, salmon, sardines, or chicken, or even compliant jerky.
