mdemross
Can you use EVOO to cook eggs?
Rebe_J
You can, but EVOO is best used at low temperature, like in salad dressings. It has a low smoke point and degrades at higher temperatures. Ghee (or clarified butter) has a high smoke point and is good for frying eggs. I like coconut oil, and I'll add a little salt to the pan to offset the coconut taste--or you could use refined coconut oil with no flavor. Personally, I don't like the taste of EVOO, and I think it goes rancid too easily. I much prefer avocado oil, but that's just me.
Munkers
Ditto Rebe_J. I use avocado or coconut oil for heat applications and save my olive oil for salads or for drizzling over food that's already been cooked.
