KarynKAT
I usually eat dinner at 6:00-6:30 and go to bed at 11pm. Can I have a little something before bed?? I am feeling like it may be a bad habit that needs breaking but what if I am truly hungry?? Thanks
Administrators ladyshanny Posted May 26, 2015 Administrators Share Posted May 26, 2015 If you are truly hungry....ie, hungry enough to eat a plate full of steamed white fish and brocoli, you should eat something before bed. A small protein and fat "mini meal". Ideally though you would make your dinner large enough that you did not need to eat at night. Your hormones are supposed to be winding down at night and shouldn't really be sending hunger signals that late. Are you eating a full breakfast within an hour of waking? Do you follow our meal planning template and eat every 4-5 hours with no snacking? If you workout, are you giving yourself a pre and post workout meal? These things will all contribute to balancing your hormones and ultimately, your hunger.
KarynKAT
Hi, thank you for your quick reply. I am on day 4 of the whole 30. I think I am following the meal planning. B- sweet potatoe hash, mushrooms, peppers, 2 eggs and 1 slice of compliant bacon. L- Protein salad- chicken, grapes, almonds w30 ranch dressing on a bed of spinach & romaine D- Pork tenderlion, asparagus grilled wth coconut oil. baked potatoe with Ghee s- I had One hardboiled egg before bed. What do you think?? Is there a forum to post your menus to see if you are following the plan? NEWBIE HERE!!
GFChris
Your meals look to follow the template well. The big question is, are they keeping you satiated for 4-5 hours? If not, tweak the portion sizes until they do so.The snack is an ok snack: the question here (as ladyshanny said), are you eating out of hunger or habit? If you're genuinely hungry, eat. If it's a habit, use the Whole30 to break that habit and do something non-food related instead.
Administrators ladyshanny Posted May 26, 2015 Administrators Share Posted May 26, 2015 If you want to keep a log, you can do so in the "Your Whole30 Log" section of the forum. The logs are not officially moderated though so if you do want help or guidance, you can PM a moderator or post a link to your log in the Troubleshooting forum and someone will be by to help. Based on your rundown above you aren't eating enough for breakfast which can set you up (or take you down) for the entire day. Eggs, if they are your sole source of protein, are as many as you can hold in your hand without dropping. For most peopel that's at least 3-4. Bacon is a fat on Whole30. Starting the day with a proper, full breakfast will help regulate your hormones and blood sugar for the rest of the day. It will also prevent/eliminate late day hunger or cravings. Give it a try, bump your breakfast up.
