jenn1067
I am into day 8 and doing really well but my mom is here and expects to eat out for dinner. Some of the places (I live in NYC) she has chosen I know will be difficult to chose Whole 30 compliant. Any suggestions? I also don't want to make a big deal of this with her, as I know she will be like "one bad meal wont harm you"! Anyone else been thru this? Moderators Tom Denham Posted May 31, 2015 Moderators Share Posted May 31, 2015 You might want to reschedule your Whole30 to a time after mom has gone back home. Eating in restaurants that you are not choosing makes staying on plan too hard.
Physibeth
I agree with Tom - but if that isn't an option or if you want to try and stay as close as possible and then restart when she leaves this dining out guide might be of assistance.
jenn1067
Thanks! I don't want to restart and the dining guide gave some good tips. When in doubt I can always bring my own dressing and order a salad. I think I should be good, I'm pretty motivated right now!
Sudser
I eat out a lot, since I don't enjoy cooking.. I've had great experiences (per the eating out tips above) when I looked over the menus ahead of time, and figured out what adjustments I would have to make (like no cheese, or oil and vinegar on the side). This way, there are no surprises, and I can order quickly without feeling like "that picky person." Also, doing searches for things like grass fed beef in my neighborhood, cues me into restaurants that may be more whole 30 friendly
