mzxticclez
I went home for the week and my mom insist of making me drink her soup. I told her I'm on whole30 and she has no idea and wont get it. Anyway this is how gingseng soup look like for those that dont know what it is. It's chinese herb soup https://www.google.com/search?q=chinese+ginseng+chicken+soup&espv=2&biw=1440&bih=720&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=cMpsVYz-OMrvsAWWtYMY&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAg Main ingredient are ginseng, chicken, water and some stuff I dont know what it is. I told her to wait til I check which ingredient is okay first then make it with ONLY that. Please let me know if it's okay
GFChris
Well, the ginseng and water are fine. Chicken is fine if it's only chicken (i.e., not injected with chicken broth or has carrageenan, etc.)What concerns me is "some other stuff" - you'd need to identify all the ingredients and be sure they're compliant. Administrators ladyshanny Posted June 1, 2015 Administrators Share Posted June 1, 2015 You'll want to read the Rules (linked below). If the soup has dairy, sugar of any kind, grains, legumes (including soy) or alcohol, then you could not eat it during a Whole30.
jmcbn
From the few recipes for chicken ginseng soup that I've just googled the chicken appears to be stuffed with a sweet glutinous rice which I'm afraid would make it non-compliant.To be sure though you'd need to check with your mum what that 'some stuff that I don't know what it is' is... mzxticclez
I attached the link for the other stuff. Like I know what it is in Chinese, but it dont make sense in English. Anyway stuffed chicken in ginseng soup is only in restaurant. Is it okay if I told my mom to make it with just chicken, water, ginseng, salt, and olive oil? Ginseng is whole30 compliance right? Moderators ShannonM816 Posted June 1, 2015 Moderators Share Posted June 1, 2015 Ginseng is fine, dates are even fine (as long as both of those are just those ingredients and nothing else).

The link you posted is for Google Images. Lots of nice looking bowls of soup but doesn't tell us if there is sugar or soy or MSG in it. If you are going to make a soup just with a chicken, water, ginseng, salt and olive oil then yes, that would be perfectly fine! Ginseng is fine.
