kimchee001
Hi guys! I am post successful lap band weight loss surgery 5 years now and have just started my first Whole30. I frankly need the detox and freedom from all the protein drinks and sugar/carb loaded "food" I feed myself with. I have some "lap band" challenges and am hoping to find others in my similar situation so we can help each other... ie. I've already barfed from my first attempt at a small normal meal. (If you don't have a lap band, you likely won't understand.) My band hasn't been filled for 4 years, but it still works. I've searched the forum for lap band peeps, but what I found was old postings. Surely there are others like me!! Where are you??? Kim
MeadowLily
I don't know where they are but it sounds like you're very familiar with your limitations and you do have to eat more frequently. I'm not sure why sugar/carb loaded foods do not make you barf but small normal meals do. This is something you're going to have to tinker with. Is it due to your body's ability to handle foods like toast and crackers but proteins in the form of meat and fish are difficult for you to digest causing you some nausea? You might have to edge down slowly until your body can adjust. This might be a real shock for your system. How about taking tiny steps until you're able to manage mini meals without the carbs and smoothies?
CMB27549
Hi Kim, I'm not banded but had RNY almost five years ago! I've had a slight regain over the last 1.5 years due to stress from being back in school. I've attempted this program a few times and never made it to the end due to having issues with food in the morning. I've gotten to the point now where I think I can finally tolerate foods in the morning so I'm considering another go.. Clean eating today but hesitant to say I started as I feel I sabotage myself as soon as I do! I'm not on here often, only on now b/c of work. I can be found on IG under island_daisy if you want support! Good luck!
KarenMarie
Hi Kim. I had successful lap band surgery 12 years ago and lost over 100 pounds. But as the years have gone by, I gained 25 pounds back. My husband and I started Whole 30 yesterday as we both want to be eating healthier and hope to lose a few pounds in the process. I have the same breakfast issue. I cannot eat well in the mornings. It takes me almost 2 hours to slowly get the eggs down to prevent vomiting, then what do you know, it's time for lunch! 2 oz. per meal is about my limit. I felt great yesterday, but this morning was awful. I felt lightheaded and lethargic. It got a bit better once I could eat a bit (spinach frittata and 1/2 banana), but it takes so long. There is no way I can see myself eating the quantities called for, but I am trying to follow as best I can with the foods I know I can eat. Protein is always my trouble food, but I can eat fish better than meat and may need to rely on that for this diet. I would love to hear about how you are managing this diet.
