bbyoung50
Hi everyone, newbie here, day 2(uhg), I used Ghee for the first time to make a sauce I found in a different forum on here and I became violently sick about an hour after eating it, is that typical for the first time ingesting it? Do I really need Ghee? Thanks everyone!
Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted June 2, 2015 Moderators Share Posted June 2, 2015 You didn't mention what else you ate with the ghee, are you sure it was the culprit? No matter, you don't need ghee, if it doesn't agree with you use coconut oil, olive oil or animal fat instead. Or add another fat portion from the Meal Template. Guest Andria
Did you eat butter/dairy pre- Whole30? Ghee is made from butter, but the milk proteins have been cooked out. This would make ghee less reactive for most people because people can have an intolerance or allergy to those milk proteins. Did you make the ghee yourself or was it store bought? And as ultrarunnergirl pointed out, you need to consider what else was in the sauce. Aside, from having an intolerance or allergy to a food, there is nothing on the Whole30 menu that would cause an acute, violent illness. I would explore the possibility of food poisoning. bbyoung50
It was bought from an organic food market, the brand was Purity Farms, and dairy has always been in my diet pre-30, I just mixed it with Franks hot sauce and then tossed a typical salad in it. But okay thank you both so much for the help!
