Day 1

B- sweet potato and 3 eggs cooked in coconut oil

S -small steak salad with oil and Apple Cider Vinegar, carrots

L- strip steak with broc and cauliflower

S-hard boiled egg

D- ground beef, mushrooms, and spinach with marinara

Throughout the day I've been a little tired, and my mind is foggy. I'm a little surprised with how I feel today since it's day one and I thought I would have more energy and pumped up about the program. I am excited about the program, especially after taking my "before" pictures!

Day 2

Woke up with a headache, but it went away after breakfast

M1- Brussel sprouts with 3 eggs all cooked with ghee, plus black coffee

M2- protein salad: 10 oz of canned salmon with Whole30 mayo (used EVOO and still tasted ok) celery, grapes, almond slivers over a huge bowl of spinach. Decided to eat half avocado before it went bad ( so so full after this meal)

M3 - pork roast, about 5 oz of gold potatoes (boiled then added some ghee), and a huge portion of coleslaw with cashews

I overdid it at lunch and am still full from the day. I'm so worried about doing this all correctly that I've been stressing myself out. I feel I'm eating too much? Or is that the calorie counter in me freaking out?

Day 3

M1- 2 eggs fried in coconut oil, Brussel sprouts and handful of potatoes fried in ghee, half avocado and a bite of a banana. Black coffee

S- spoonful of olives

M2- leftover ground beef with compliant marinara, mushrooms, and spinach. Leftover coleslaw with a few cashews. 1/4 of an apple. Stuffed to the gills right now

S- leftover coleslaw and HB egg because we went to a festival and I knew there would be temptation and late dinner

M3- Whole30 recipe Pork shoulder with butternut squash, diced tomatoes, and spinach (subbed for the kale). This was delicious! Recipe said it was enough for 2 and some leftovers but I basically made it enough for 2. ;-)

I really hope I'm not eating too much. I can't believe how full I am all day long. If I'm hungry at all, it's right before lunch, but it's not the hunger I'm used to experiencing. I will usually eat lunch at noon and then I'm hungry again at 1:30! These last three days, I eat at noon and I'm not hungry again until 4:30/5.

That's what you're going for -- 4 1/2 to 5 hours between meals. I don't think you're eating too much at all. Think about it this way -- your body has to have not only the energy it needs to do all the things you normally do, but it also needs the energy to produce food for a growing little one, and (depending on how far post-partum you are) it's probably still trying to sort out hormones and stuff from pregnancy and childbirth. All of that takes energy, and you get energy from food, so it makes sense that you need plenty of food. Just relax and go with it.

What Shannon said! If you're used to counting calories and/or trying to get by eating as little as possible, Whole30 is definitely going to feel like a lot of food. And sometimes it is a lot of food, especially when you're nursing! And that's okay!

For what it's worth, I don't think you're eating too much at all, and your meals sound delicious!

Thank you both for responding and motivating me! I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and hope for the best.

Now that the weather is nicer, I also plan to take more walks and exercise a bit more. I've really fallen off the bandwagon with that this last week.

Day 4

M1- 2 eggs with Brussel sprouts and a handful of potatoes, slice of leftover pork and 1/4 avocado

M2- leftover pork shoulder, spinach, diced tomatoes and butternut squash (delicious again!). Celery with almond butter

M3- sweet potato shepherds pie from W30 cookbook. 1/4 avocado

S- I'm a little hungry now so I'm going to snack on some almonds

I woke up with a bit of a headache but it was on an off throughout the day. Based on the timeline, I was expecting to be crabby today. But, I don't know if I would say I was in a cranky mood today or if everyone else in my house was. I actually thought I handled their bad moods pretty well considering.

I got compliments by two people saying that I look great (I've been losing the baby weight very slowly since Nov). I know it's too early for the W30 results to be shining through, but it definitely gave me the motivation I needed to stay strong today. :-)

Day 5

M1- Brussel sprint and handful of potatoes with 3 scrambled eggs. 1/4 avocado. I used to shy away from avocados bc of fat content, so I am loving eating them all the time now! Yum!

M2-roast with sweet potatoes, carrots, and celery

I went way too long between meals bc of circumstances out of my control and I was starving by the time I ate mid afternoon

S- HB egg and apple with almond butter

M3- at an event: carving station turkey and beef. Salad (brought my own EVOO and vinegar. I was very proud of myself for not caving. So many people were temping me with food and alcoholic beverages but I resisted!

I was exhausted all day long today. Terrible feeling!

Day 7

I was very tempted to weigh myself this morning but I resisted!

M1- leftover chicken, 2 eggs, asparagus and 1/2 avocado. Black coffee

M2- leftover pot roast, carrots, sweet potatoes, and celery

M3- chicken cacciatore (from W30 book) not my favorite, I thought it turned out too watery. Not looking forward to having for lunch tomorrow either.

Blueberries and slice of watermelon

S- HB egg and roasted red pepper mayo (from W30 book)

I'm excited I've made it to day 7 and am proud of myself. In a way it went by quickly but with all the dishes and prep work it feels like it's been a lifetime in the kitchen.

It might sound crazy but I feel like my stomach is looking better already. Just like others have said, I am just itching to step on the scale to see if I've lost weight. Energy and mood were both up and down today. I feel like my face has broken out a little and I can't decide if that's from a new face cream or not.

Day 8

M1- 2 chorizo links, 2 eggs topped with the roasted red pepper sauce, tomato

M2- large zucchini noodles with ground turkey, mushrooms, and marinara

S- 1/2 can of chicken with mayo/ RP sauce, apple

I must not have had enough fat in M2 bc I was so hungry I had to eat a large snack

M3- butternut squash, onions, and ground beef. I tossed in some coconut milk in at the end of cooking. Spoonful of almond butter and some blueberries

I was the hungriest today and I'm not exactly sure why. Last night as we watched Game of Thrones, I really wanted some chocolate! And throughout the day today I keep thinking of snacking, nothing in particular but some nice crusty bread sounds delicious right now! It makes me realize how often I would snack and on the completely wrong things too.

Day 10

M1- 2 eggs, leftover butternut squash and ground beef, RP sauce, 1/2 avocado

I was feeling great and went for a 3mi walk with double jogger

M2- leftover ground turkey/marinara/ mushrooms and zoodles. Apple with almond butter

I was pretty tired at this point, but took the boys out on a field trip any way and we had a blast!

M3- leftover butternut squash with RP sauce/ mayo. Leftover chicken sausage bake with sweet potato and mushrooms.

I've been itching to get out of the house more lately- is that the energy? Feeling braver with two kids? Cabin fever after long winter? I don't know, but I'll take it! I feel I've been in a much better mood, thinking a little clearer although I haven't been able to sleep as much as I would like. I still really want to get on the scale- it's calling my name!
