kerkenat
I have 3 daughters who I am trying to get to do the Whole30. The thing is, they are all very busy with their lives, and it might take them a while to get through the book. How about if I read and understand it all, then give them the official rules 4 page document and have them start the program, but read the book as soon as they can? I, and this forum, can be their coach until they have learned the whole program for themselves. Is that what others do with family members? edgymama
I refer everyone to this website and to stay away from the facebook groups until they get a grasp on the program from this website and/or the book! I let them know they can do it with the printables and help from these forums but the books are great to have for own reference too!
Rebe_J
In our household (husband and me), I read the book (ISWF) and planned the meals. Two weeks into our W30, he was sold--just from how he felt. We regularly discuss the merits of eating real food and over the course of the last 3 years, I think he has learned the main points of the book without reading it. I think reading food labels is a powerful tool in learning to eat good food. After looking at food labels in the grocery store, my husband now refers to our nutrition plan as "Food Without Labels." That is a good description of how we now eat: protein, vegetables, fat, fruit.
MTNan
And tell them to stay away from Pinterest until they truly understand the program, too. A lot of things that are tagged as Whole30 on Pinterest are NOT compliant!
Administrators ladyshanny Posted June 10, 2015 Administrators Share Posted June 10, 2015 Lots of people just do the program without reading the book....at one point there was no book. If you can read and understand it and then tell them to trust you and the program, they could do just fine. With the other commentors about staying off social media related to Whole30. There is a rule page with yes-no foods and then there is the spirit of the program which brings the magic later. The spirit relates to our meal template, not eating bad foods in good clothing (like an almond flour tortilla where all the ingredients are compliant but the finished product is not), etc. If you or they have questions, this forum is a great place to get those answered. Sleeve
It's like Robb Wolf said in Paleo Solution, some people need to know why before they do, some can just do. ISWF (and Paleo Solution, and Wheat Belly, and Eat the Yolks, and Death by Food Pyramid) will provide the why.

LOVE this! Yup that's how I plan to try and eat for the rest of my life, food without labels!

If you wait one more day or week or month...you'll be one month older when you finally do.
