No fruit and nuts snack?

Recommended Posts

Snacking in general is discouraged so there's not really one that's considered good. The reason being that your digestive system needs time to rest.

If you MUST snack due to hunger make it a mini meal of protein & fat (& preferably veggies), and then up the quantity of your meals next day.

If you feel the need to snack due to habit, then look for a new habit - something that will occupy your hands & your mind.

You might find this helpful.   It's recent as of June 4, 2015.

"Going forward, we will no longer promote any dried-fruit-and-nut bars under our official Whole30 Approved program. The only bars to which we will lend our name and our logo are those with meat as a base (like Primal Pacs, Chomps, and Epic Bars), as those will never be mistaken for candy."

Fruits (fresh and dried) and nuts and their butters can be problem foods for people. First, nuts can be hard to stop eating once you start, they are not balanced in their Omega profile and they can be gut disruptive.  Plus some of them have enough sweetness in them that they can keep your sugar dragon alive and well.

Fruits are a similar issue for the sugar dragon.  If you use them between meals they can spike your blood sugar leading to cravings and false hunger.  If you use them because you are craving something sweet, they just perpetuate that craving cycle and you never break free from it.

As jmcbn says, no snacks are good snacks and fruits and nuts especially can be problematic.
