Olive Bars

Can you not ask the servers what the ingredients are? They should be listed on the tubs that the foods are supplied in...

Personally I wouldn't eat anything that I hadn't read the labels on as they could contain sugars, additives, or off plan oils.

You'd need to ask the deli folks to see the ingredients list on the original packaging. There's packaging somewhere that lists it, you just have to find it. Unfortunately it's far too common for additives like soy oil that are not approved.

I think what I would do is grab some fresh bell peppers, cut them in big chunks or just cut the sides off in big thick slices, toss them with some olive oil, salt and pepper, maybe some garlic and italian herbs and roast them in your oven at 400 or so for about 30 minutes. OR you could do them whole (specially if you have access to a grill or gas stove) and roast them over the grill (or putting them on the gas burner) and when they are charred, put them in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap or in a ziplock bag and let them sweat and cool for about 20 minutes. You can pull the burnt skin off, running it under slow running water if needed and pull the stem and seeds out and toss in olive oil and herbs... basically, make your own antipasto bar. Add in artichoke hearts if you want (water packed, drained, tossed in your own olive oil, or you could grill baby artichokes and marinate), mushrooms, jarred compliant olives, and what ever else you would  want and you would KNOW exactly what is in it, it will be fresher and you could enjoy without question.

True--not as easy as just grabbing at the store, but I am sure, far tastier, healthier, compliant, and maybe something you could do together with someone else -- make a day of it.
