Deb725
Hi, I have been on the Whole30 program for 3 weeks as of today. I honestly thought I was following the program to a T however I just happened to read the ingredients of the Planters Whole Cashews I had added to my diet. You would think....Cashews and Salt, right? No! I found out they have peanut and/or cottonseed oil!!! As far as I know neither of these are allowed on the Whole30! Does this mean I have to start all over again? Help! I feel so disheartened right now thinking I had been so good all along. Please advise. Thank you! Debbie
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted June 15, 2015 Moderators Share Posted June 15, 2015 Read this article, and then decide for yourself if you should start over. Definitely consider it a lesson in the importance of reading labels. It's amazing how many extra things get added to even the simplest of foods. Deb725
What is so disheartening is I do read labels...and have since way before the Whole30 ever came along! I have a rule...If I cannot pronounce the ingredient...I dont eat it and pretty much if it has much more than 5 or 6 ingredients ...I don't eat it. I guess I took what I've eaten in the past for granted.
cherokeeprez
It's like trying to find a can of tuna without soy. Why on earth do you need soy in tuna!?

I'm still trying to figure out why they put soy in what used to be one of my favorite teas. It really completely blows my mind the crap that they put in food, and we've all just kind of accepted it for years.

Taking the time to really read labels and understand what's in your food makes you realize that so much, even 'healthy' food, is actually designed to make yo addicted to it. There's no real concern about actual health.
AbFabKat
I finally found canned tuna without soy at...of all places...Sam's Club. It's the store brand, which I think sometimes have more simple ingredients than the national brands.
