Sark
Has this happened to anyone else??? I'm on day 11 and the last few days I've had some signs of a yeast infection. I used to get them all the time but not in many many years. I'm not overly itchy but I do have discharge and there's one particular area that gets a bit itchy. Is this die off? I really didn't eat a lot of sugar before whole30. A bit but not huge amounts. I also haven't eaten wheat or dairy in about 15 years. I take a probiotic everyday as well. So I'm confused. Any insight would be very helpful! Thank you . Link to comment
TrayS
You posted this four days ago so hopefully you're feeling better by this point! Regardless, I think it's reasonable to assume that whatever changes you have made to your eating as a result of Whole30 can cause changes to your bacterial/fungal balance, and maybe your probiotic is contributing (or maybe it is keeping it from getting worse!) Hopefully it will balance out soon if it hasn't already. And if it gets really bad, I wouldn't hesitate to take care of it w/ good ol' fluconazole. One more thought is are you eating starchy veggies? I've read elsewhere that lack of carbs can sometimes cause a mucus-deficient condition, which could contribute to candida overgrowth. Link to comment
Sark
Thanks for replying! It's super weird because it keeps coming and going. I think it was a yeast infection it would be constant and way more annoying. So maybe it is just the adjustment to the new way of eating. Do you think it's okay to take the oral diflucan while on whole30? Regardless I did up my starchy veggies as I was only eating them for meal 3. So now I try to have some at lunch too. But I for sure feel better from four days ago . Link to comment
AmyS
Take the fluconazole if you need it. Really. Link to comment

lolalexilou
I developed the same problem--- day 7 and my first yeast infection in 18 years! I started monistat 3 on day 8 and I'm feeling better now 2 days later- hoping that the last dose tonight kicks it. I was previously taking a probiotic but haven't been recently so I resumed that and also drank a glass of kombucha the last couple days. I really don't know if this is candida die off or just an imbalance in good and bad flora. If I have any lingering symptoms after tomorrows dose of monistat I plan to see the OBGYN. The absolute WORST part about all of this is that I started this whole 30 to help with endometriosis and PCOS as we are trying to conceive and of course the yeastie hit right at the same time as ovulation this month---- darn it all! Sark
Ugh that is the worst! Mine has almost gone completely and I didn't have to treat it. Sort of leads me to believe it was die off of some kind. But thank goodness it's gone cause it was driving me bananas!!! I hope yours passes soon and you can continue on your journey to conceive. Best of luck with that! Link to comment
Racheletti
I just posted a similar topic in the troubleshooting section (and am now thinking I should have put it in ladies only! Lol) I'm on day 19 and am a having a terrible bout of this after not experiencing it for several years, ugh! I wonder if it is some kind of gut flora readjustment? Im using canestan cream to try and take the worst of it away. I'm feeling a bit stressful about it because I'm also having a big bout of eczema and am worried that a compliant food is triggering both things, sigh Link to comment
