I am so excited to begin my Whole30 Journey on Monday, June 22nd! I heard about Whole30 from my hair dresser and she had an amazing testimony, so I thought I should give it a try! I plan on planning out my meals and stuff for the remainder of the week, going grocery shopping on Sunday, and doing meal prep for most of the week on Sunday and Monday! If anybody has any tips they would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Thank you!

I will be starting Monday as well.  I too am going to plan and meal prep until then.  I am really nervous but excited!  I am absolutely addicted to carbs and sugar.  I want to be healthy and shed a few pounds, but I do have some health issues that I hope will respond to this lifestyle change.  As of right now, I have no one doing this with me, and I know I need some sort of accountability.  If you want we can keep tabs on each other's progress to make sure we stick to it. My name is April.  My husband and I have been married for 10 years and we have a daughter 8 and son 5.

Thanks!

My husband and I are also starting on the 22nd. I am excited and terrified all at the same time. I would love some people to chat with doing it at the same time as us.

I will be following the plan by the book, but my husband is a little more relaxed about it. For him it's just about a little weight loss, but for me... I have so many health issues. I'm hoping this change will really improve my life!

I've written out the meals I plan on making and will get my groceries this weekend. My biggest weakness will be in preparing ahead. I don't do well with last minute lazy meal choices.  We have kids who aren't going to officially do Whole30 with us, but I will be giving them healthier meals and snacks.

Hi Everyone,

Just checking in to see if you were all as busy as I was today, grocery shopping and prepping and pre-making some meals to get ready for tomorrow? I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be bringing a snack to work with me because I'm afraid I'll be starving before lunch hits. We'll see. I'm so used to having toast or cereal for breakfast and milk in my coffee. It will be interesting for sure.

Good luck!

Hi everyone! Hi DeEnna!

I'm starting tomorrow (Mon 6/22) as well. DeEnna - I'm happy to support you and receive support as well!

It's my first time doing the whole30 and my first time here. Not my first time doing things of this nature though :-)

Very excited, inspired, curious, committed and clear.

Love and success to all - Shidalou (shee-duh-loo)

I am also starting on the 22nd!  I would love to have a support person and support you in return!  Good luck!

So glad to read this! I'm starting tomorrow as well, and I am addicted to carbs and sugar, too! I'm borderline diabetic and I have IBS, so I hope whole 30 can help! Best wishes!

Hi everyone!

I started my first whole30 as well today! I am Susanne 28 years old and I live in the Netherlands with my husband. We recently bought a house which we are still remodeling at the moment. No kids yet, just a dog!

Just had my first breakfast: two boiled eggs, cucumber slices and microwave-baked apple with cinnamon, a few raisins and a teaspoon of hazelnut butter. I hope this will keep me up and running till lunch...

Good luck everyone :D

Hello everyone!

Today is the first day of my Whole30 as well! I feel exited but a little nervous, hope I will be able to stick to it!

I live with my boyfriend who is quite skeptical about it all, since he practically lives on Coke and eats a lot of bread.. But he'll be having some whole30 dinners as well for the next 30 days :)

@Suzanne: I also live in the Netherlands! Maybe we can help each other out with whole30 compliant products and everything, that would be nice :)

I just had a breakast of some grilled chicken, a 'hashbrown'  made from a small white potato, broccoli and zucchini, and a small peach.

Good luck to everyone today!

Hi Miss Marple!

Nice to meet another Dutchie :) Would be great to help each other finding whole30 compliant stuff! I haven't been able to find the 'right' bacon yet (for instance). I do have a really nice butcher right around the corner though, but it's halal...

Let me know how you're doing!

Susanne

Hi Susanne

I'm not sure if your meal kept you going until the next one, but bear in mind that when eggs are your only source of protein you should be eating as many whole eggs as you can hold in your hand which tends to be 3-4 for most people, although you may find that mixing up your protein sources keeps you fuller for longer (I like peppered mackerel with fried eggs for instance).

You need to re-visit the meal planning template with regard to your veg. Aim for 1-3 cups (with 3 being optimum) of veg per meal & don't let that fruit push the veggies off of your plate. Also worth noting is that many people report a crash in the afternoon when eating fruit at breakfast as the naturally occurring sugars send the blood sugar levels soaring leading to a crash later in the day with faux hunger, lack of focus, fatigue etc...

Good luck for day two!

Hi everyone,

How are you all doing? Feeling good, or having the headaches that might start on day 2?

I'm feeling quite well, just a tiny little headache but not bad at all. I didn't have any big sugar/grains cravings or anything, which is great because I usually eat at least some chocolate or cookies a day, and I do tend to snack when Im working (even if it's 'healthy' biscuits or muesli bars).

I just finished work for today (for lunch I brought a big salad with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, grilled chicken and half an avocado, while all my collegues had (free!) and good-looking sandwiches because we had a meeting during lunchtime.. big win!) so there's just one meal left for today. Hope it'll be as easy as yesterday not to snack anything in the evening! I do have volleybal practice tonight so I might have a small snack/meal after that, depending on the intensity of the practice.

@ Suzanne: I think the bacon from Albert heijn (magere spekreepjes) is compliant.. I checked it with Melissa's (I believe) post on E-numbers that should be avoided, and there are no 'forbidden' E-numbers in it.. ingredients are:

 90% varkensspek, water, zout, antioxidanten (E301, E331), voedingszuur (E326), conserveermiddelen (E250, E262), kruiden, aroma.

Only thing is that kruiden&aroma (meaning herbs and aroma/flavor) could potentially be something thats non-compliant but then they have to provide the E-number of what's in the 'aroma', right?

But please let me know if you or anyone else thinks otherwise, I haven't had any yet!

I would like to hear how you all are doing! :)
