Yesterday, June 22nd of 2015, I decided to start my Whole30 :D I'm extremely excited.... the books are full of important information  that make you open your eyes to reality I can seriously relate to many examples that they give related to eating when you're emotional and the guilty feeling after eating something bad...I was diagnosed with diabetes few years ago and there was a point where no matter what I did I couldn't keep my sugar levels under control...I also went through a phase where i just didn't care anymore!...on March of 2015 I went to see a specialist because my number were starting to be dangerously high from 350-440 mg/dl i cant even describe the way i felt I'm only 22 years old and this was an emotional break down not to mention i was 256 pounds at the time...My new Dr said I had 2 weeks to exercises eat healthy take my medication and lower down the numbers if not she would put me on insulin which had me panicking but at the same time motivated me to get everything straight...so i did i began to drop pounds and my sugar levels are under control I've feeling great but sometimes i feel like I'm still craving all the bad food that harms my numbers and I feel like this is going to help me have full control of what goes on my plate and reach my goal sooner...change bad habits that I've had since I've been a little girl and pray for the best...yesterday i got on the scale and I'm at 230 pounds...ill check in again in 30 days wish me luck! Any advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated  :D

Hi, Gabby...congratulations for taking this step...we can take control of our health for the most part...and we all deserve to be healthy, energetic and happy.   I am only on Day Seven, so obviously not an expert by any means but I saw you asked for suggestions.    Before the suggestions, I want to share the terrific reward I have achieved in just these few days...my blood pressure is 30-40 points lower than they were on Day One!   Now for the suggestion...commit to following the plan 100%, focus on the rewards and not what you are being asked to eliminate from your diet for 30 days.   You can eat beautiful meals and stick to the program.   I did make the homemade mayonnaise and salad dressings and enjoy deviled egg stuffed in a half of avocado with raspberries drizzled with some dressing...delicious.   I bet your cravings will disappear.    Create a mindset that is positive and focused...don't rely on will power.    Best of luck.

Hi Gabby, Congratulations on your decision to take control of your health! I find that having a big breakfast really helps me through the day. I started with eating 2 eggs for breakfast and quickly found that wasn't enough. I read the recommendation to have the number of eggs that you can hold in a single hand, which for me is 3 eggs, and I feel a lot better with that. I hope you're feeling great!

I agree we do deserve to be healthy and its very sad how we are the ones that make poor choices when it comes to what we feed our bodies and harm ourselves..and that is fantastic! :D  :D   GOOD FOR YOU! hey 40 point? AWESOME! and that sounds delicious ill have to try that on one of my future meals...and yes i hope the cravings do go away...I live with my parents and they don't always have the healthiest meals ever so temptation at home can make it really hard but I talked to them before i started the whole 30 and explain to them that i don't want them to offer me any food ahead of time lol so what about exercises? are you working out as well or are you only doing the clean eating? and thank you so much again i wish you the best too

Wow, Gabby, that is great that you're already able to stop taking some medication already! Sometimes I've also had leftovers for breakfast, which is especially nice when I'm a bit tired of eggs in the morning.

I like to run, or sometimes walk, and I've been continuing to workout since it makes me feel good.

I hope you have a great day!

I agree I did that this morning because i wasnt really feeling eggs today so i had some grilled chicken over spinach and some carrots and 1 avocado...I was very filling. Thats excellent I like to run too sometimes i go to the gym during the week. I was going to ask you something..you know so much more than I do...what are we supposed to eat before and after our workouts?

Hi Gabby, The meal planning page gives some good directions for pre and post workout foods (http://whole30.com/downloads/whole30-meal-planning.pdf). I've kept my workouts pretty moderate thus far through the whole30, so I haven't really felt the need for much in the way of pre and post workout foods. Sometimes I have a small handful of almonds before I go out, and I usually eat dinner fairly soon after I get back in. I think you'd have to gauge how much you need in terms of the intensity of the workout.

Have a great day!

Hi Gabby, I hope you're doing great and just not spending much time in the forum! If things aren't going as smoothly as you had hoped, tomorrow is 01 July, and that might be a great day to start afresh!

Take care.
