Lucky_Bean
I'll start my first whole30 soon and I'm not sure if I understood it right. I thought I'm not allowed to eat sugar at all, but on one website a lady uses curry paste in her recipe. The label says it contains 1g of sugar. The ingredients are: spices (including red chili), garlic, lemongrass, galangal (Thai ginger), salt, challot, coriander root + kaffir lime leaf. The ingredients are all compliant but the 1g sugar confuses me. Can I eat curry paste?
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted June 27, 2015 Moderators Share Posted June 27, 2015 Yes, this would be compliant. You're looking for sugar (or other sweetener) actually listed as an ingredient -- that would not be compliant. Many, many foods have naturally occurring sugars -- all fruits, most vegetables, some nuts and meats even -- and those sugars will show up in the nutrition facts. kevingf
Having trouble finding curry paste. I couldn't find it at Wegmanns, but I also didn't ask a store employee.
Sleeve
Should be with the Asian foods in any decent sized market. Thai Kitchen (McCormick brand) is common to find since most markets are already selling their spice jars in another aisle.
