christi374
Is there restrictions on sugar free chewing gum? If so any suggestions for an allowable alternative?
jmcbn
Sorry, no chewing unless it's food so your gum is out, sugar free or not. You need to give your digestive system a break and all that chewing is producing saliva which is fooling your stomach into thinking food is on the way... Moderators ShannonM816 Posted July 8, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 8, 2015 No sweeteners of any kind are allowed, so no gum is allowed. If you just need to freshen your breath after a meal, you could chew a bit of mint or parsley or fennel seeds. If you're just used to chewing on something all day you're really better off not doing that anyway. Chewing is the beginning of the digestive process, so when you're chewing gum, you're sending signals to the rest of your digestive tract to get ready to process some food, and then when there is no food, you've got all the increased stomach acid and stuff ready to go with nothing to do. Edited to add: I guess we were all answering at the same time.
Administrators ladyshanny Posted July 8, 2015 Administrators Share Posted July 8, 2015 If you are trying to freshen your breath you can try having a quick chew of some mint leaves or fennel seeds, brushing your teeth, oil pulling with a couple drops of peppermint oil or even just swishing water with the drops of peppermint oil. If you're on Facebook go check out the Whole30 page because they put out a call to folks to post their Whole30 compliant breath freshening techniques last week, there were some good suggestions on there.
