Michelle Y
Hi team, I'm up to day 8 (yay over a week!) and I've noticed that I've been eating a lot of sweet potato. Not ridiculous amounts, but I've had it with about 80% of my second and third meals each day. I looooooove sweet potato but do you think that this is something I should try and move away from? Or am I worrying over nothing? Thanks in advance for your help! Michelle Instagram: @mishsquishfish
MeadowLily
Do you eat other vegetables besides sweet potatoes?

MeadowLily
Alrighty then. I think you're good to go. Variety keeps food boredom away.
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted July 8, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 8, 2015 Yes, I'm still eating other veges with my meals as well. If you're eating plenty of other vegetables as well, I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you find yourself in a rut with any vegetables, sweet potato or any others, where you're eating them and not having a variety of different vegetables, then worry. I personally seem to go through phases with different foods -- I'll eat a lot of mayo for a week or two, and then move on to a different fat source, or I'll eat a whole bunch of spinach for a while, and then one day I choose something different -- it's not usually a conscious decision, although I try to pay attention and make sure I'm not buying all the same foods every week, I just seem to eat a bunch of something for a while, and then move on. When I first started, I was coming off a low calorie, low carb, low fat, basically low everything diet, and I ate a ton of fruit and sweet potatoes and probably way more fat than a normal person would, but part of it was just me being happy that I could eat things that tasted good, and part of it was probably my body going, oh, thank goodness, she's not starving us anymore! If you come from a restrictive background, you may be doing kind of the same thing. It'll probably even out over time, although it's certainly something worth keeping an eye on. Munkers
So far this week I've eaten sweet potato in varying amounts with every single meal. (Less in the morning, more at dinner.) As long as you're incorporating variety and still eating your green veggies, I wouldn't worry too much about this.

BirdyP
I had that exact question. I usually make some sweet potatoe hash cooked in coconut oil in the morning. Then at lunch or dinner eat a small white (Japanese) sweet potato. DELISH! What portion of your meal should this be?
Guest Andria
I had that exact question. I usually make some sweet potatoe hash cooked in coconut oil in the morning. Then at lunch or dinner eat a small white (Japanese) sweet potato. DELISH! What portion of your meal should this be? There isn't a straightforward answer to this, but maybe 1/2 fist size to start. You want to be sure, though, you are prioritizing your 1-3 cups of non-starchy vegetables.
BirdyP
is twice a day too much
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted July 12, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 12, 2015 is twice a day too much If you're getting plenty of other vegetables as well, it's fine. If eating sweet potatoes is causing you not to get a variety of other vegetables, then look at limiting them to once a day.
