CrescentLizzy
I've been experimenting with these. I loved the Beef Bacon Apple one, so I thought I'd try the Lamb Currant Mint one. It was a completely different experience. I had to spit out the bite of the lamb bar and today I've been stuffy and run down. Has anybody else had a reaction like this to the lamb bar? Also, does anybody know how spicy the habanero and cherry bars are? I can't handle a lot of spicy foods and I'd rather not have to waste something that another person in the house could tolerate / eat. Thank you! MeadowLily
How often do you need to eat the bars?
CrescentLizzy
I don't have a need to eat them. It's more that I'm finding that it's nice to have them for a snack when I'm really hungry. More wondering if people had any sort of reaction to them or if it's something wrong with me. I'm leaning more towards there's something wrong with me, but I always think that. The lamb ones do contain red pepper that the beef ones don't -- perhaps you're sensitive to nightshades? (Those include eggplant, tomatoes, peppers (all peppers, even the non-spicy ones), and potatoes.) If there's a chance that's what's going on, you probably want to avoid the habanero ones. As a side not, if you're hungry, eat a mini meal of protein, fat, and vegetables. If your meals aren't keeping you satisfied 4-5 hours, you're not eating enough and need to increase portion sizes. Bars of any kind are really intended to be used as emergency food, not as snacks.
CrescentLizzy
Thanks Shannon! That is something to think about. I don't think I have an allergy to nightshades, because I don't have a reaction from other foods like potatoes or bell peppers, but I'll keep an eye on it. I do need to put these back as emergency foods even if I want to try them. Small sadface but not a big one.
