Sueboo41
I didn't log my first W30, so I can't recall the steps I went through. That was last February. However, I know it was a week or more before I started to feel awesome. At first it was a struggle, but became so much easier. The first was more like a W40 and then a long slow reintroduction. Even after I started having some nonW30 foods, I felt great. High energy, sleeping ... Oh the wonderful sleep! But now, about 4 months post W30, I have lost that feeling and I want it back. So here's a W30.2! Started W30.2.1 Saturday, July 11. I already have It Starts With Food, but I picked up a copy of the new book, Whole 30. I was jazzed to see the stages listed out. Since W30.1 and last week, I have been eating fairly good, but have had at least 1 nonW30 food each day, like creamer in coffee or wine. Also have enjoyed the occasional slice of pizza. But for the most part have stayed away from indulging in wheat and dairy, both of which make me feel lousy (and boy, do I miss a pizza!). But I want that tiger blood back! This round, W30.2 Day 1 and 2 went fine. Had some cravings, but thought about the feeling I want and managed to push the cravings off. Day 3 (yesterday) I did a boot camp workout (which I've done all summer) and in the afternoon was totally wiped out. So sleepy and then got so cranky! I was feeling as if I could punch somebody, but held my tongue, knowing it was just a phase and a toll gate to get through to get to tiger blood. Whew! Had a dinner of spring greens topped with chicken breast, 1/2 Apple, cubed, a tiny bit of raisins and walnuts, and topped with a delicious dressing I made by wisking together no sweetened applesauce, balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. Within 15 minutes of finishing, I felt normal again. Yeah me for sticking to it, and yeah DH for joking around about the mood and not getting impatient or angry. Good to have someone who will help you roll with the punches! Day 4 this morning. I slept great! I'm crediting the cooler evening, so sleeping with windows open and a blanket (low of about 60F!), but I'm hoping the phases are just moving along quickly since I was not eating like I did pre-February, and maybe the tiger blood will come more quickly. Sueboo41
Day 4 complete. Slept great but did not want to get up, ended up sleeping in way late. But I have vacation I need to use or lose in a month so I took the morning off. It was a beautiful morning! I did C25K and then walked another 20 minutes. Totally hit goals for both moderate and vigorous activity goals, steps and calorie burn for the day. However, this meant I missed breakfast. I had a salad with strawberries and walnuts and a grilled chicken breast. Made dressing by blending strawberries with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Yummy. Dinner was shrimp Alfredo made from recipe from Thatglutenfreegirl http://www.thatglutenfreegirl.com/2013/07/spaghetti-squash-alfredo-vegan-paleo.html Had steamed carrots on the side. Lots of veggies and yummy! Was hungry later, probably because no breakfast. Had some cashews and a big glass of iced tea.
Sueboo41
Up to day 10 today! There have been a few tough craving moments but still on track. Day 7 I had a personal training session and it was really tough. Mostly it felt like I ran out of energy (aka juice) before I should have. Not sweating it though because I know I've cleaned up the diet so my body needs to figure out to tap into the fat stores. LOL last night I dreamed that I drank TWO full sugar sodas- the first was a Mountain Dew, and I vividly remember the dream of just chugging it and still feeling thirsty. As I was getting my breakfast ready, I remembered the dream, briefly thinking I had broken my whole 30, then laughing out loud at having the dream. It made me happy to reach another 'typical milestone' with the dreams. Feeling happy.
Sueboo41
Food yesterday was 2 eggs and a slice of bacon for breakfast, then off to boot camp. Was the only one who showed up so Stacy did the workout with me, which really pushed me. Still feeling like I am running out of energy too soon. But recovery seems fast after stopping. I have not added a post workout meal, but have been reading more about them and found a recipe on StupidEasyPaleo for a sweet potato and chicken frittata. Sounds delicious. Anyway, lunch was a salad with spring greens, chicken breast, blueberries and walnuts. I was feeling hungry all day and at 3 or so I decided I must eat, so steamed up an older broccoli stalk that was lurking in the fridge. The stems were a bit tough, but it hit the spot. Dinner was shrimp Alfredo again, but this time with fresh mushrooms and some added broccoli florets. Delicious again. Breakfast this morning was one slice bacon, one egg with onion and spaghetti squash, then off fo a cardio drumming class. Logged in as 2 min "vigorous" and 40 as "moderate" activity (bodybugg). But I wasn't feeling done, so walked with a few minutes of running for a mile on the treadmill. By 10, I was pretty hungry, so I cooked up 2 eggs with onion and about a tablespoon of left over shredded hash browns. Lunch was salad again, but this time added some cherry tomatoes and some slightly grilled minced onion. That held till dinner. I was a bit disappointed with dinner. I had seasoned some pounded chicken breasts with fajita seasoning and in a separate package had green pepper, red pepper and onion slices that were also seasoned. These had been soaking for 2 days. Cooked the chicken first, then the veggies in cast iron skillet. (Lots of smoke!) I had mine with lettuce leaves, but it seemed kind of bitter. I'm not sure if it was the lettuce or what, but the idea was better than the reality. Now it's 8 pm and I'm feeling dissatisfied and hungry. Guess I'll brush my teeth. Sueboo41
Well, W30.2 ended too soon. Spent the better part of fall struggling to eat decent most of the time. Restarted w30.3 on Sunday the 8th of November. It's been a good week in ESKY, have eaten the same thing every day...stir fry veggies, a little bit of hamberger and fried egg for breakfast. Salad greens with diced chicken breast, walnuts, Apple and oil and vinegar for every lunch. Dinner was more stir fry veggies with hamburger. Lots of water, some black coffee and iced tea. I stayed on track with no cravings all week. D came today (Saturday) and I cooked up some W30 compliant stuffed peppers. I had one for lunch and one for dinner with a baked sweet potato. I'm having some cravings tonight...the peppers just didn't do it. But I'm looking forward to a successful week and getting into week 2.
