Eryn7997
Please tell me this is normal and it'll get better (but only if it's true, lol) I'm only on day 3. I've been achy, weak and had a headache all day. And gracious, I've spent so much time in the bathroom. So much so I had to take some Imodium to get it to stop. I have been using some nuts and nut butter as my fat - so I'm going to cut that out completely as I read that might be causing the bathroom troubles. What about the the general misery? Is that normal? I had a horrible diet up till 3 days ago - but I guess I was looking for some reassurance that what I'm experiencing is normal for the program or has been experienced by others. Shoo, I knew this would be tough - but I wasn't prepared for this. Thanks, Eryn
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted July 16, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 16, 2015 I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Tired and a headache is not unusual. Achy and weak are a little more intense than most people report, and that coupled with the bathroom troubles make me wonder if it's possible you picked up some kind of bug -- do you have a fever? Have you been around someone who is sick? Or is there any chance that in the last couple of days you ate some food that had maybe gone a little off? If you don't think it's an illness, the next question would be, are you sure you're eating enough food? Be sure you eat at least the minimum amount on the meal template at each meal, and it's okay to have more. That means 1-2 palm-sized portions of protein (length, width, & depth of your palm, or if eggs are your only protein, as many whole eggs as you can hold in your hand -- usually 3-4); 1-2 thumb-size portions of fat (or a heaping handful of olives or coconut flakes, or 1/2 to a whole avocado, or a closed handful of nuts); and 1-3 cups of vegetables. Occasionally have some fruit, not more than two servings a day, always with a meal, not on its own, and you don't ever have to have any if you don't want it. Most people benefit from including at least one fist-sized serving of starchy vegetable each day (potato; sweet potato; winter squash like butternut, acorn, or spaghetti squash; root vegetables like turnips, rutabagas, beets, or carrots; pumpkin; or jicama). Also be sure you drink enough water -- aim for 1/2 oz per pound of body weight, so if you weigh 120 lbs, drink at least 60 oz of water. And salt your food to taste, since when you get all the processed stuff out of your diet, your sodium intake goes way, way down, and we do need some salt. Jenny B
Day 4 was the worst for me, but I muddled through. I am on Day 16 and feel great! No headaches, aches, bathroom problems, etc. The first week was the hardest for me because I was so tired, but it does get better! Just hang in there! Know that you feel like crap from all those chemicals/sugars that are being released from your body!
