I'm afraid to reintroduce

I've been on the whole30 plan for almost 90 days now. (By doctor's order)  I'll be going back for blood tests next month.  I am do afraid of reintroducing other items to my diet.  2x I ate something that had some ingredients I didn't know about and I was sick as a dog.

Is it healthy for me to continue with this lifestyle without adding back the food groups I've totally eliminated?

I just finished my first 30 days and weighed myself this morning - UP 2 1/2 pounds!!  Clothes are fitting better, but I'm seriously feeling down about the weight gain.  I'm afraid to reintroduce but now I think I have to go back and tweak what I've been eating (I did eat a lot more nuts than I have in pre-Whole30 days, and I've been enjoying summer fruit as a way to combat my sugar cravings).

There is not one single thing in the foods that the Whole30 eliminates that you can't get in more abundance from meat, veggies, and healthy fats. Health-wise, it is great to continue with the Whole30 menu. But you can eat a bit of things off the plan occasionally without getting sick. By doing the reintroductions, you can figure out what you need to avoid and what you can eat a bit of.

If your clothes fit better, you got healthier. You may have added muscle if you exercised any.

Most people would be much better off if they did not eat nuts at all. Try it.

The best way to combat sugar cravings is to eat protein and fat. Eating fruit is the exact wrong thing to do because it keeps the sugar cravings alive and strong. Also, fruit is not even close to being as nutritious as veggies, so you have been eating too much fruit/sugar and not enough veggies. Make that adjustment and things should improve.

Day 26 here! Not sure how the best way is to do the reintroduce for me. Ive had some really great NSV along the way. Don't want to loose that Tiger Blood! But I do miss some things. Just trying to get some ideas here too. One thing I know is I would kinda like to continue on the Whole 30 and tweak it a bit. I think Ive had a little too much fruit on my first. Also I found some items I was eating were not compliant. So TECHNIQLY it was not a Whole 30; I did take them out IMMEDIATLEY! But I do have a history of emotional eating and yo yo dieting. Do NOT want to revisit THAT EVERRRRRRRRRR!! Also another question I am asking myself is sweet potatoes. Have asked before but just not sure. I usually have some with breakfast (after training) made into a hash cooked in coconut oil. Also at lunch I usually have 1/2 a white sweet potato. I just love them. It is not taking away from my veggies by any means! I know I am not supposed to be doing this for weight loss, which is NOT the main reason, BUT still hope for good results and a control over my diet and cravings. A life of eating this way and feeling amazing instead of the typical!

Hi Birdy,

I have a tendency on eating on the high side for starchy veggies.  Why?  Because it keeps my hormones happy.  It keeps my brain happy and by doing all these things it keeps my DH happy. :D

My healthy and happy hormones trump any type of weight loss right now.  Considering how messed up everything was beforehand - setting my hormones straight have become my #1 priority.  Would I still like to lose weight?  Sure.  But I also get it that my body will release weight when my hormones are happy.

I might add on to say that I did successfully lose 35lbs in 7 months by eating at least 2 starchy veggies a day.

Okay,....Carlaccini, first of all! A giant congrats for loosing 35 lbs. that's awesome! I agree & understand what you mean. I feel sometimes if I try to push harder my body seems to hold on harder! I'm just REALLY enjoying this feeling. Better energy, mood, additude! I've been killing my workouts and so much more focused! But I do feel there's more to loose. Not to please the scale but too be in my comfort zone!
