Whole30 Certified Coach littleg Posted July 18, 2015 Whole30 Certified Coach Share Posted July 18, 2015 Anyone else have to be out of the house earlier than you'd like and have trouble with M1? What has worked for you? Do you shove meal 1 in your face as you race out the door? Do you get up even earlier? Do you sort of break the rules and just eat something and then eat a meal 1.5 later? I work 12 hr shifts. Leave the house at 6:30. Get home at 8:00-8:30. I get up at 5 and really can't get up any earlier to try to have time to "enjoy" M1 because I can't go to bed earlier than 10ish and don't want less than the 7 hrs of sleep I can get. I really don't like the idea of eating a good quality M1 in the car or as I'm rushing around in the morning. I want to sit, enjoy my coffee, read the paper, and *enjoy* the meal. I can get a break at work between 9 and 10 usually. What are the thoughts of doing almost a pre-workout M0.5 and then a M1 at work?
jmcbn
You *could* break it up into two mini meals if it means that you'll be able to eat mindfully & focus on your food. That said, if you're gettig up at 5am to leave the house for 6:30am surely you could manage some breakfast muffins or a frittata that's been prepped & just needs re-heated?Eating within an hour is key to getting your hormones balanced so if you hold off eating at all you'll only be sabotaging your efforts. Whole30 Certified Coach littleg Posted July 18, 2015 Author Whole30 Certified Coach Share Posted July 18, 2015 Usually I'm not out of bed until 5:30 I take thyroid meds so I have to wait 30 min to eat/drink anything. Usually I set the alarm for 5, fumble to put the pills in my mouth in the dark and reset the alarm for 5:30. Get up, have coffee, get dressed, pack lunch, feed dogs... realistically I have 60 minutes to do everything. I could probably be better about having my lunch fully packed the night before... I hate to "waste" a good meal by shoving it in my mouth in 5 minutes. BUT I'd be totally happy to make some egg/meat/veggie muffins and eat 1 or 2 on the way to work and then have a smaller M1 at 10 or so. Its also only 3 days a week... the other 4 I can eat because I don't work.
jmcbn
Bear in mind that your coffee is an appetite suppressant so you may fair better leaving that until after you've eaten - to enjoy with that smaller M1 once you're in work...
SpinSpin
I had the same issue it taking my thyroid meds, since they have to be taken either 30 minutes to an hour before a meal, or 4 hours after a meal. Crazy me, I take them before I go to bed. I dinner at 6, bed by 10-11 and that is when I take my pill. OR I have been known to get up in the night, say if I get up to go to the bathroom but since that isn't always happening anymore, I do the before bed trick. If I forget, I take my pill as soon as I get up and use that 30 minutes to make my breakfast so it is ready to go when I am. Just a couple thoughts.
