SusanHasHotPants
Hi everyone, My friend and I started a blog and an Instagram (@flexibledieting) to journal our way through a Whole30 while adhering to customized macronutrients. We post about how we feel day-to-day, dealing with social situations, performance at the gym, and of course, lots of pictures of food and food preparation (all macronutrients included, of course). Feel free to follow along! flexibledetoxing.wordpress.com
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted July 22, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 22, 2015 Just so you know, tracking macros is very much against the spirit of Whole30. Whole30 is not just about the foods you put in your mouth, but about your relationship with food and learning to listen to your body. No formula can tell you what you need to eat, because it can vary from day to day depending on activity levels. Not to mention that tracking leads to unhealthy things like thinking, well, I have calories left, so even though I'm not hungry, I'll eat more -- or the opposite, I'm starving, but I have no calories left, so I'll just keep starving rather than break my diet. Whole30 wants you to eat when you're hungry, even if you have days where you eat twice as much as usual because you're truly that hungry. (That happens to women sometimes in the week leading up to their period -- they want carbs and food and more carbs and more food, and it's totally okay, because your body at different times needs different things.) I certainly commend you for taking control of your food, but I really, really encourage you to dig into the Whole30 a little more and embrace the spirit of the thing, rather than just going for technically compliant food.
