nikkigirl24
I'm on day 4 and I'm not sure if I messed up... Went out to dinner tonight (out of town on a business trip) and had three bites of steak (appetizer- had no sauce on it) and ordered grilled chicken sautéed in olive oil with tomatoes and green beans. I feel like I made all of the right choices but I'm just not positive it didn't contain something I can't have (like with spices for the steak)... I've been fighting a headache all day (typical day 4) but now it's worse and my body aches. I guess I have two questions- how can you ever tell for certain the restaurant didn't mess things up (I'm forced to eat out so not doing it for 30 days is impossible) and mentally how do you not question anytime you eat something you didn't prepare yourself? Thanks in advance!
nikkigirl24
Another note- I also get car sick easily and the headache got worse each time I was in the car, so that could contribute to it too.... I'm just not sure and I will be really upset if I messed it up when I went out of my way to do everything right
Moderators Tom Denham Posted July 23, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 23, 2015 What you ordered sounds good. I would not assume that you are feeling bad as a result of a hidden, problem ingredient. Are you eating enough overall? Headaches are one response to under eating for some people.
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted July 23, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 23, 2015 - how can you ever tell for certain the restaurant didn't mess things up The plain answer to this is that you can't. You can only have control over you and the choices and decisions and research and effort you put in... unfortunate as that is... Lots of people who eat out a lot lean on the good relationships they make with the servers and chefs in their favourite restaurants. If you can at all drive the choice of where to eat, then more often than not a farm to table or local small restaurant is going to be much more trust-worthy than a chain... Higher end restaurants will also be a better bet, and while the food and service will be stellar, its also more expensive. Trust yourself that you're doing your own due diligence in controlling what you put in your mouth as much as possible... unfortunately we just can't control everything unless we make it all in our own homes and you've mentioned that's not an option. Whole 30 on girl!
