Duce
Everything has been going beautifully. I am on day 18 of my second Whole30 and this week has been really hard. I work out very early, 5:30 am so have not been doing a pre-workout meal. I am rarely hungry. I usually warm up with a light jog or bike then lift (heavy). Then I do some form of cardio, either steady state or intervals. I eat a sweet potato most days. I try to eat that with my first or second meal. I try not to eat carbs during my last meal. Although I am fit. I could lose 20 lbs. I haven't really changed anything about my routine. I am trying to increase my running but I have not drastically done so. I just added another day of intervals. Yesterday I purposely ate more just to see if I would feel better. Today's workout was really difficult. What could be the problem? I am pretty sure I am fat adapted. Thanks all.
GFChris
I think not having a pre workout meal could be contributing to your situation here. It's not about being hungry beforehand: it's about balancing your hormones and properly fueling your workout with protein and fat. Have you tried having a hard boiled egg before your workout? How often each week are you exercising? Do you have any rest days? Can you provide more details of what your meals have looked like (including portion sizes), as well as your daily water consumption, and nightly hours of sleep? With that information, we can provide you more specific feedback.
Duce
I work out 6 days a week for about and hour and 15 min. For breakfast I usually have two eggs cooked in ghee with two chicken sausage patties and a cup of sautéed spinach. Two cups of water Lunch yesterday was two spicy tuna cakes, 1/2 cup coconut flakes and a cup of carrots Dinner was 6 oz wild salmon and broccoli. I had a 1/2 tablespoon of almond butter and 1/4 cup coconut later because I was still hungry. I drink water throughout the day. If I guessed it's at least 10-12 cups/day. I sleep 7-8 hours a day but this week have required a nap because I am just so beat! Also, I should clarify. I finished my first Whole30 on July 3. Started my second on July 5. Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted July 23, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 23, 2015 You are not eating enough for someone who works out 6 days a week. Also, consider other stressors in your life. If you have a stressful job, kids, relationship, etc that will impact you. 7-8 hours of sleep sounds good but you might need more. Try eating your sweet potato at meals 2 and 3. I find I do better with high carb veggies later in the day and not first thing. Keep up the good work!
