LauraPerry
So today is day 4 for me and my husband and where I am feeling great he is getting a little light headed. I'm not sure what I need to do differently to help him out. From reading other forums it sounds like he may not be eating enough of the right foods. This is what we have been eating the past few days.(this is per person so we aren't splitting it) Day 1 Meal 1: 4 medium scrambled eggs with 1/2 an onion and 1/2 a bell pepper and 1 handful of spinach with 2 tablespoons of salsa and 1/2 and avocado and 1 banana Meal 2: Classic chili (recipe from the book) topped with a handful of olives Meal 3: 5 oz grilled steak with garlic shallot puree 1 1/2 zucchini turned into noodles with pesto sauce and 1 roma tomato Day 2 Meal 1: 4 medium scrambled eggs with 1/2 an onion and 1/2 a bell pepper and 1 handful of spinach with 2 tablespoons of salsa and 1/2 and avocado and handful of grapes Meal 2: Classic chili (recipe from the book) topped with half an avocado meal 3: 2 Stuffed peppers (recipe from the book) Day 3: Meal 1: 4 medium scrambled eggs with 1/2 an onion and 1/2 a bell pepper and 1 handful of spinach with 2 tablespoons of salsa and 1/2 and avocado and a banana Meal 2: 2 Stuffed peppers (recipe from the book) Meal 3: 1/2 of a Spaghetti squash roasted topped with tomato sauce and a palm size piece of grilled chicken Day 4: Meal 1: 4 medium scrambled eggs with 1/2 an onion and 1/2 a bell pepper and 1 handful of spinach with 2 tablespoons of salsa and 1/2 and avocado and a banana Meal 2:1/2 of a Spaghetti squash roasted topped with tomato sauce and a palm size piece of grilled chicken Any tips would be much appreciated so I can make adjustments for him for a last meal for today and going forward. MeGA"gardener"
My question is are you adding salt? You need to add some 3/4 -1/2 tsp per pound of protien And how much water is he hydrated 1/2 oz per lb body weight per day Fats? Cooking oils or clarified butter? GFChris
More food! His palms/thumbs are likely bigger than yours, so he should be eating more protein and fat than you. I'm seeing no starchy veggies: I suggest he include at least a serving daily. Load up on more veggies in general: 2-3 cups per meal.
LauraPerry
Yes we add salt to the dishes all the recipes we have made have been from the book and they all include salt. We cook with either clarified butter or with the extra virgin olive oil. I'm not sure how much water he is getting I can let him know he needs to drink more. Our palms are actually the same size. But I was thinking he may not be getting enough protein. He is far more active than I am and I think he needs to eat more.
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted July 24, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 24, 2015 As MeGA"gardener" mentioned, check on his salt and water intake. Also consider that he may need more food than you, especially if he's bigger than you or more active. Make sure his portions of protein and fat are based on the size of his hands, and don't forget that the template lists a range -- he might need to aim for the upper range, so try two palm size portions of protein or two thumb size portions of fat. Also don't forget for either of you, if you work out, you get pre-and post-workout meals in addition to your three meals. Edited to add, I type too slow on this phone, Chris beat me to it. GFChris
Much of the cooking fat stays in the pan, so you may need to add more fat to compensate.
LauraPerry
Thank you all! I will implement these changes for him tonight for meal 3 and make sure he has something to eat after working out.

GFChris
Do any of you have a good post workout meal that is quick and easy to make? Protein and carb. A popular choice around here is chicken and sweet potato.
