iamahoneybee
I'm on day 5 (of my 3rd whole30) and all I want is to eat almond butter, bananas, and drink coffee. Granted I had a stomach bug days 3 & 4 (sick stomach, fever, chills), but damn it!!!! like thinking about my lunch (chicken, green beans, and baked potato) makes me feel gross. That is all :-/
jmcbn
Sorry to hear you've not been feeling the greatest, but feeding the craving will only keep it alive.Any chance you could opt for something bland like scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, or broth? All nourishing, and all will starve that sugar dragon and help you move on....
newwhole30er
I was the same way at that point. Just get the almond butter and bananas out of your house. It will pass.
vickig
I thought almond butter and bananas was allowed. Are they not? I have some almond butter and have not tried it yet.
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted July 25, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 25, 2015 I thought almond butter and bananas was allowed. Are they not? I have some almond butter and have not tried it yet. They're allowed (as long as your almond butter doesn't have any off plan ingredients like sweeteners). But many people find them to be food without brakes (FWOB) -- food that once you start eating it, you can't seem to stop. Others find that it is sweet enough to keep them craving more sweets, or they find that they're using it as a dessert substitute, or eating it for breakfast in place of their pre-W30 sugary, carby breakfasts rather than having plenty of protein, fat, and vegetables. As long as you have them as part of a template meal, they're fine -- almond butter would be a fat source, and if occasionally you have a meal with a banana or apple with almond butter, you're good, or if you make a sauce with it or add it to a stir fry or other recipe, also fine. If you find yourself craving them, or skipping vegetables to have them, you may need to leave them out of your meal plans for a while.
baltomom86
I have been eating a lot of almond butter and I have got to stop. I eat it when I am hungry in place of a real meal and it gives me GI issues. Eater beware!
jmcbn
...I eat it when I am hungry in place of a real meal... But it's not a FWOB for you, right? Ditch the nut butter. This is the kind of habit that will slowly take you right back to where you came from.
