GinnyR
I am finding that I am hungry and then after I've eaten a few bites I feel almost nauseous and don't really want to eat. Is this normal? Will it pass? I am making recipes from the Whole30 book and they're delicious, but as soon as the food hits my stomach I'm like "meh".
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted July 25, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 25, 2015 I don't think this is normal. Is this a big change from how you were eating before? Maybe more fat or more protein? Maybe you're just getting used to a big change? If you feel like you're actually having digestive issues, you might look into probiotics, either as pills or in the form of fermented foods like kombucha (GT's brand is widely available), fermented pickles (Bubbies brand), or raw sauerkraut (Bubbies or Wild Brine brands are two possibilities, there are others). If the feeling passes quickly enough that you're able to eat your meals, you might give it a few days and see if it gets better.

GinnyR
I'm still eating my meals but without much interest. It is not a whole lot different from how I ate before with the exception of no wheat/rice/dairy. I didn't eat junk food so I thought it wouldn't be too much of a change to my system but maybe I was fooling myself. I will give it a couple more days and see what happens. If I'm still feeling nauseous I will check out the suggested additions ... with the exception of sauerkraut LOL. Thanks!
Noelle
I used to have this happen ALL the time. I wasn't Whole30 at the time, but something that really helped me was Bragg raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar in 6-8 fl oz of water before meals. I started with a tsp three times a day, and worked up to a Tbsp.
Equinox
I have also experienced this in the past, when I was an underweight little girl, and later when I volunteered in Africa and got a bad case of parasites. I don't want to freak you out - I'm sure you don't have parasites. In both cases it was a sign of a nutritional imbalance. Blood tests revealed that I was anemic and once I started supplementing with iron the feeling of hunger followed by nausea (especially in the mornings) went away. Except for when I was pregnant! Then hunger followed by immediate nausea was pretty much par for the course Anyway, I thought I might put that out there so you could thing about the nutritional composition of what your'e eating. It can be easy to push a borderline deficiency over the line by accident by making even a small dietary change. Maybe time for some blood work? GinnyR
There's no chance I'm pregnant so we can rule out that one, and I'm just going to go with the "no parasites" train of thought and let that one go as well :-D As for the nutritional imbalance, that's a good thought. I've had blood work done in the past six months and was not iron deficient but possibly things have changed. I am not experiencing the hungry/nauseous thing as frequently and am hoping it will be completely gone soon. Thanks for the feedback!
