Day 17 and still waiting

Recommended Posts

I'm on Day 17 and so far, nothing has changed. I do not have chronic health problems and diet was pretty good before this and I have been following the program to a TEE. I feel exactly the same as before and have not lost a pound. Anyone have a similar expeience? I realize I am not done, but I thought SOMETHING would change after 17 days.

You need to remember that this is a 30day program, not 17, and sometimes it takes a little longer for the magic to happen depending on where you are coming from.

If you'd like to post a few days worth of your food/liquid intake, along with activity/stress/sleep levels we can check that you're on the right track - it could be that there are some tweaks that you can make....

I am feeling the same way, I know I am only on day 9 but it is the first change of eating plan I have ever followed without without cheating. My clothes feel tighter thru my stomach and I feel so bloated had to take off my rings. Any advice?

Hi, Lemonhead. It's fairly normal for people to have some bloating around this point in their Whole30 -- check out the timeline for some idea of what kinds of things you might expect. You've probably hit the "For the love of Gosling, my pants are tighter!" phase. It will pass.

That said, if you'd like, you can list a couple of days' of typical meals, including approximate portion sizes, and fluid intake and sleep, and we can see if anything looks like it could be causing problems.

In general, things that cause bloating can be: eating a lot of nuts (try to limit them to less than once a day, don't depend on them as your main fat source); lots of raw vegetables instead of cooked; cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, or brussel sprouts, either raw or cooked; or not consuming enough water -- aim for 1/2 oz of water per pound of body weight, so if you weigh 120 lbs, drink at least 60 oz of water.

Please do not weigh yourself. You are doing yourself a terrible disservice. You are not a number on a scale.

Weight loss is not linear, and it is a rule. No weighing. Put it away and feel the freedom!!

I am on Day 18 or 19 and mostly loving it.   I feel tired, but in a "gee, I can't remember the last time I was this relaxed" kind of way.

I don't miss grains at all.  They're like the boyfriend you should have broken up with years ago, that you're not going to miss.  Bye bye, grains.

Same for legumes.  Who needs you.

But, oh my beloved sugar and dairy.

I'm not tempted to cheat.  I feel strong.  But I am mourning the loss, and wonder if that feeling will go away before Day 31.
