Majudkins
I'm on day 15- half way there! And I totally am having positive results. But for the first time in my life, I hate food. I am really trying to make an entire lifestyle change but this is making it hard to see the future brightly in regards to clean eating. Most meals I would rather not eat at all then choke something down. I'm a decent cook and experiment with new recipes and that's not doing the trick.. I'm not sure what to do. Munkers
What is about your meals that you don't like? What are foods that you DO enjoy?
Majudkins
I've never really enjoyed veggies but the first 10 meals eating them with every meal was no big deal, now I dread it. Pre-whole30 I was always super into condiments and haven't tried any of the whole30 approved ones. Maybe I should.

Moderators ShannonM816 Posted July 28, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 28, 2015 I've never really enjoyed veggies but the first 10 meals eating them with every meal was no big deal, now I dread it. Pre-whole30 I was always super into condiments and haven't tried any of the whole30 approved ones. Maybe I should. Definitely try some of the sauces and seasonings -- it can make a huge difference. Even something as simple as a flavored olive oil can change the flavor of things and help with boredom. I found a really nice lemon infused olive oil at my grocery store, and put it on everything -- cooked vegetables, salads, baked sweet potatoes. Mayo makes everything taste better, so if you haven't tried it yet, definitely do. For vegetables even a non-vegetable-loving person would like, try this Velvety Butternut Squash, or this Golden Cauliflower Soup, or this Belly Dance Beet Salad, or this Sweet & Salty Broccoli Salad (if you can find compliant bacon). Or try hiding your vegetables. Put a big, heaping handful or two of spinach in the blender, throw in three eggs, salt, pepper, and any other seasonings you like in your eggs, whir them in the blender until it's all combined. Cook them like scrambled eggs. They look weird, but I promise, they taste fine. Or grate and drain zucchini, wrap it in something like a linen tea towel or some good strong paper towels, and squeeze, and squeeze, and squeeze some more until you've gotten as much moisture out of it as you can. Combine the zucchini with ground meat and whatever seasonings you like, and form it into meatballs or patties, cook as you normally would cook the meat. You won't notice the zucchini is there. Or try casserole-type dishes, where the meat and vegetables are all combined. Shepherd's pie, Or this Artichoke Lemon Chicken Pasta. If the hiding your vegetables thing works for you, you might google things like, getting kids to eat vegetables, I know there are a lot of tips out there for moms of picky kids. Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted July 28, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 28, 2015 I second the Velvety Butternut Squash recipe. Just pair it with your protein -- it's soo delicious, it's almost food with no brakes. Also, my favorite comfort food that doesn't feel like veggies is roasted spaghetti squash with ground beef, onion, garlic, oregano, basil, tomato sauce and maybe some broccoli or spinach. Try it! Also, be sure you're eating enough fat. Check your meals against the Meal Template -- do they follow it closely? You can do this!
KarynL
I'm only day 4 but I cosign what Shannon said about experimenting with sauces. I've taken to drizzling balsamic vinaigrette over any beef dish I make and it makes such a huge difference. I'm not much of a veggie person either, but someone said something to me and I had to take a step back and I realized I was really limiting what I considered a "veggie". I was thinking leafy green, healthy stuff that I see other people eating, then I realized that I was limiting myself to those things, that onion, tomato, mushrooms and on the W30, potatoes, are veggies as well as a whole host of other things. Now I feel like I can increase the variety of veggies I eat and that has helped at least on day 4 (may come back here on day 15 and say, oops, ok, I know what you mean now, lol).
