KristenD
I am on Day 23 and the last day or two I have been starving! Anyone else's appetite ramp up during the 30 days?
GFChris
Is it that time of the month for you? What have your meals been for the past few days?
KristenD
No, and that never affects my appetite anyway. Meals have been the same as always. I am working to increase my veggie intake. I hate all vegetables, no matter how they are prepared, so it's a challenge getting them down. But I've actually been eating more of them lately. GFChris
Ok, well without seeing your food and fluid consumption, it's hard to make specific suggestions. If you find yourself hungry between meals (litmus test: you could eat something bland like steamed fish and broccoli), have a mini meal of protein, carb and fat. Have you tried roasting veggies in your favorite compliant oil, seasonings, and/or herbs? Making a tasty soup? In a crustless or sweet potato crust quiche? Making a slaw with homemade mayo or sunshine sauce?
Guest Andria
Have your activity levels or sleep changed recently? Feel free to post a few days worth of meals if you would like us to troubleshoot. Otherwise, feel free to eat if you are truly hungry. As Chris said, the litmus test is hungry enough to eat plain steamed fish and broccoli. KristenD
Today was: Breakfast: 3 poached eggs, potatoes Lunch: 2 hard boiled eggs, one avocado, carrots with 2 TB almond butter, one peach Dinner: one chicken breast with pesto, 2 cups green beans (bleh!) After this I was starving so I made chicken salad with 2 chicken breasts, homemade mayo, onions and celery and ate it ALL.
KristenD
Oh btw, I could dip veggies in chocolate and still hate them. It s just something I have to suck up.
Sheena812
Your lunch looks really light on protein
Moderators Tom Denham Posted August 3, 2015 Moderators Share Posted August 3, 2015 Your lunch was way, way too small and your dinner was small as well. Of course you were hungry. Eating two more chicken breasts, however, was probably overkill unless they were small. You do not have to just suck it up eating bleh veggies. Learn to cook them well and you can actually enjoy eating them. Most veggies taste really good when cooked skillfully.
KristenD
They were small, I was still hungry afterwards. I'm like the bottomless pit.
evaq
Hmm, your fat looks really light in all your meals. And if I had to take a guess, I'd say you feel a bit better after eating a nut butter with your meal...which would be a clue. Try to be mindful of your sense of satiation and hunger with/without fats (mayo, olive oil, avocado, olives etc) included in your meals and I think you'll be able to crack your hunger issues. GFChris
In addition to the great feedback you've already received, I wonder if you're drinking enough water? Aim for at least 1/2 oz water per pound of body weight, daily. Incorporating fattier meats and/or fish could help too.
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted August 3, 2015 Moderators Share Posted August 3, 2015 They were small, I was still hungry afterwards. I'm like the bottomless pit.No no no. Please be kinder to yourself. Two small chicken breasts does not make you a bottomless pit. Further, if you try the recommendations given above, where you are eating more to a template meal (added fat, 1-3 cups of vegetables) plus the protein, I think you'll find that you actually feel satiated. Also, nutrition is cumulative over days, so if you've been eating very light and restricting your intake in the days before, it's likely that last night at dinner was when it finally caught up with you... Now, I"m going to channel my sister here because she's away, otherwise she would have said this. You mention you 'hate' vegetables and that you have to 'suck it up'. I suggest reframing the way you're approaching vegetables. Could you start saying 'I used to be a person that didn't like vegetables but I'm trying to expand my tastes'. Or 'Vegetables are something I've struggled with in the past but going forward I'm looking for ways to prepare them better'. It may sound silly but reframing things like this into a more positive fashion actually does a significant amount to change the way your brain considers vegetables. Also, can you tell us what it is about veg that you don't like? Taste, texture, bad memories etc? Lots of us here are or have become 'expert' veg preparers through tons of trial and error and maybe we can help you with your new found desire to expand your veggie horizons
