My whole 30? diary

Day 1. 4 of august 

 

Back to work after the summer holiday. The menu for today is: 

Breakfast: leftover grilled steak with salad. 

Lunch: Chicken salad with bacon and grapes 

Dinner: whole30 minced meat, italian tomato sauce and spaghetti squash 

 

Its only 10 in the morning and i'm craving some sugar. Being back to the office with deadlines back on and a whole lot of emails to read through and i really want to go downstairs and have some of that danish that is always served there. Luckily my office is not on the same floor as the lounge ! 

 

really excited to see how this will work out for me  :)

So day 2 ... 

 

yesterday resulted in the most horrific headache I've had in months so after dinner it was bath time and then straight to bed !  The whole 30 minced meat and italian tomato sauce was a hit for the family and my daughter loved it.. well see cant speak yet but the sound namm namm came and she finished her whole plate. 

 

Woke up really refreshed this morning and had some leftovers from last night for breakfast ... for lunch it is soup time and dinner will be chicken breast with roasted red pepper sauce and slaw.

 

I did however bring an apple with me to work because I have always had trouble with my blood sugar (repeatedly fainted as a child because of it ... and still happens to this day but maybe once a year now ) and on top of that pcos so apple just in case if something goes wrong

 ... for lunch it is soup....

Hi there

 

I'm not sure what's in your soup but it's nigh on impossible to get enough protein in one bowl. A lot of people will bring some roasted chicken or a beef patty to eat along with it, and many people eat x2 bowls - just something to bear in mind going forward... Have you got a fat option with that too?

Yes you'r right been an hour since I had lunch and already hungry ! :/  Think i might have to have my apple now and an egg when I get back from work

So start of day 3 

 

Recap on how yesterday (day 2) went.... the soup was really not satisfying and even thou I had an apple I was hungry, grumpy and really frustrated when i finally got home. The dinner however was great ... loved it .. had some leftover roasted pepper sauce and slaw with my breakfast this morning. It was so satisfying that i did not get a snack craving in the evening like usually happens!

 

But on with today .... It is hubbys birthday so its weird not to have pancakes and cake ready for him for breakfast.

 

Breakfast was 3 strips bacon, 1 egg. slaw, roasted pepper sauce and handful of grapes - loved it 

 

Lunch - this might become tricky but since its hubbys birthday we are going out to a steakhouse for lunch just the two of us... luckily it a nice one with grass fed beef and everything organic and I've checked the menu and know that I will be having steak, potato and salad and no sauce and tall glass of water

 

Dinner - since i thought big meat for lunch and meat in the evening might get dull and i have so much leftover from that sauce I will just make salmon with backed vegtables and the left over slaw... (and tomorrow i will make hubby some nice home cocked lamb ) 

 

Really feeling lots of energy this morning no headache and no frustration and sort of feel lighter - most likely my only in my mind but still nice feeling hope it sticks around

Day 4... i´m feeling really good and light and fresh love it! But i´m so tired in the evenings that i´m in bed way earlier than usual but that has never been a bad thing i guess,

 

I did make a change to yesterdays menu instead of the salmon i might whole30 tikka masala and it was great ! ... so great that nothing was left of the whole batch and I had to make emergency steak this morning to have with me for lunch today. Went to the gym this morning and did some wight lifting and now I have to watch to drink more water so i don't get to dehydrated.  

 

pre workout - banana and raspberries 

Breakfast - egg, sausage and raspberries 

Lunch  - steak !

Dinner - lamb with rosemary and garlic and sweet potatoes, carrots and other vegetables.

In order to become fat adapted the recommendation for preWO is for protein & fat. Eating fruit preWO sends a signal to your brain to keep on burning sugar because there's plenty more on the way... For postWO stick to lean protein & starchy carbs - again eating fruit replaces liver glycogen stores when you really want to be replacing muscle glycogen.

 Do you have any recommendations for something easy and readily available for pre work out meal ? I dont want to wake everybody up before 6 when I go to the gym ...

I usually opt for a (not so hard) hard boiled egg - you've protein & fat on one handy little package - portable, and you can boil a few in advance.... Other options are a few bites of roast chicken & some olives/guac/mayo, or some tinned tuna...

So ... day 4 took a turn to the worse ... vomiting and general sickness that continued through out yesterday .. really hard to stick to the whole30 plan during this time... didi stray from it a bit with bananaegg pancakes but that was the only thing i could imagine getting down.

 

But feeling better today and trying myhand on making my favorite brazilian chicken dish whole30 compatible - hope it turns out good !

Day 7 !

 

The Brazilian chicken was a success and i had it for breakfast this morning ! Baby was up from 1 - 3 and then woke up at 5 i'm exhausted and just trying to go get through the day. Did not plan the day so bit worried to see how it will go
