Job Interview on Day 4

Recommended Posts

I started my first W30 yesterday and so far, everything is going well! Then I got a phone call earlier today from a company who wants me to come in for an interview on Thursday which will be day 4 for me. I obviously took the interview but I'm nervous because I don't know what my energy levels/moods will be like in a couple days. Like I said before, so far I haven't had any headaches or hangover feelings. I did hit a wall yesterday afternoon and felt sapped of all energy but I'm not sure if that was due to the changes in my food or the fact that our AC stopped working at it was 85 degrees in our house all afternoon. I don't really want to stop my W30, but I'm not sure what to do if I hit a rough patch in the next day or two. Any of you pros have any suggestions?

Thanks so much!

For energy/focus you'll need to be sure you're including adequate fat & starchy carbs, and making sure to drink at least half an ounce of water per pound of body weight, daily. The crash you describe could well have been from eating starchy carbs/fruit at meal one as this can spike your blood sugars causing a crash later in the day with lack of focus, fatigue, faux hunger etc.

Can you post a few days worth of your food/liquid log so that we can check you're on the right track?

Any idea what time of day the interview will be at? You may be able to tweaks your meals to suit...

For breakfast yesterday I had 2 scrambled eggs mixed with chopped green pepper and topped with salsa. I had two patties of homemade turkey sausage and half of an avocado on the side. I did a cardio workout from 10-11 and then went to the grocery store so no post-wo meal. I had a handful of cashews when I got home at noon and was surprised to discover we had no power at our house (some fine individual hit a telephone pole on a major highway near my house). So by the time I figured out what was going on with the power, figured out something to give my son for lunch and got him down for his nap, it was around 2:30 before I was able to sit down for Meal 2 (by this time the power had been restored but our AC was still out). For lunch I had leftover shredded chicken mixed with half an avocado inside a romaine leaf with a side of sliced tomatoes. I had consumed about 32 oz of water at this point. About 2:00 was when the crash hit and lasted pretty much all evening. For Meal 3 I had walnut crusted pork with sweet potatoes and grilled asparagus and more water. Overall, my water consumption was much lower than what it should have been. This will be one of my major challenges during the W30, I tend not to drink much of anything. For the whole day I probably drank 45 oz of water (I should be drinking around 70).

Today for breakfast I had 2 eggs again with turkey sausage and a side of diced sweet potatoes/green peppers. I ate as much as I could but just couldn't eat it all. I had about 3/4 of it before my workout and the remaining 1/4 about 15 minutes after my workout. Meal 2 was leftover pork with a side of green beans w/ onions and red peppers and a side of strawberries. So far I've had about 45 oz of water. My energy levels have been great today (not crazy high but more than normal for me, low energy is one of the main reasons I'm doing this)

My interview is late in the afternoon - at 5:30 on Thursday.

Yeah, it could well have been the heat & the lack of water...

Overall your meals look fairly good. Meal 3 yesterday looked low on fat, as do your two meals so far today.

I'd focus on getting enough water on board each day as it really will help with clearing away any fog & keeping you focused, and I'd add additional fat over and above what you're using to cook in as most of it stays in the pan. Continue this over the next two days, ensuring there's adequate fat especially at meal 2 on the day of your interview and you should be fine.

The protein in your meal is what will tide you over for the 4-5hrs, the fat provides energy, and the veggies give you that nice full feeling. Starchy carbs will help keep anxiety at bay and keep your moods stable so maybe you'd want to include some at meal 2 on Interview day.

Good luck & let us know how it goes!
